i have found 2 drz's i like. which one is the better deal.
2002 drz 400s- $3200- 900 miles after market hand guards, corbin seat, skid plate, after market handle bars. http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/mcy/539685286.html 2004 drz-400s- $3100- 2000 miles Great condition, well maintained. Pro Taper handle bars Aluminum radiator guards engine Case guards DRC tailight bracket Metal Hand guards Street legal Dirt tires New plastic and graphics Low profile gel seat Clean title Easy fork bleeders Manual cam chain tensioner twin air filter Carb has been rejetted There is a minor dent in the exhaust can, pure cosmetic. http://dallas.craigslist.org/mcy/548414339.html are these both good deals? is the gel seat pretty good? better than corbin? im going to be riding 2 up. is it better to have 1100 more miles and more after market stuff? 900 miles and the corbin seat? which is better and why? |

The craigslist ad for the 2002 says it is a 400E, but it looks like a 400S. Big difference. The 2004 has more stuff that you will get anyway (manual chain tensioner, case savers, radiator guards, etc.) so it actually costs less than the 2002. The 1100 extra miles is nothing, I have 12k+ on mine and it is still going strong. The stock seat is torture. Some like the gel seat, some think it is just as bad as the stock one. Some like the corbin. Everything you ever wanted to know about the DRZ is in the DRZ400 section of thumpertalk.com. 2 up on this bike? Short answer - forget it, look for something else. Or buy both bikes and both of you can ride.

The 04 has the recommended farkles though New Plastic could be an indication of having been dropped / dumped / pounded to the point of needing new plastic (or not, some people think it helps with price).
Exhaust dent is no biggie, I've given two away for the price of shipping... I don't care for Corbins, they push me forward and crank on my knees when not standing and the Zuk gells feel like, well, gel. Both have the rudimentary protection. You could probably get the 04 for a couple of bones less than advertised as well as the 02. I'd let talk to the both of them and go with the guy that sounds like more of a Real Deal... though I am inclined to think the 04 was "Ridden" and may come with some good lines.... Good luck!

I'd go with the 04, since it will have had the the improved version of the ACCT in stock trim, and it will have the higher factory torque spec applied to the primary drive nut.
Both items can be problematic with the pre-2004 bikes.

Gel seat is lower than stock but just as uncomfortable. I would say it would be worse for 2 up. However - two up on this bike is nuts if you plan on doing it often.
2000 miles is nothing for these bikes. No brainer - get the '04 with more extras for less money.
