The connector on a 950 is located, along with the sidestand connector, just in front of the generator housing on the left side. It is tucked behind the front aluminum motor mount.
I'll bet the 990 is the same location.

found it at last. well pushed in behind other cables and generator?
now disconnected two cables and took it for a run after mod. seemed far more lively to me? pschological or not? but either way seems worth it |

The wire colors were different on mine, but I got it done. I don't know if 20% more power is true, but there is a significant difference. The neutral switch on my '07 990 was pale green.

i ve done it, works a treat. on the ADV990 the plug is above the rectifier on the left hand side of engine. pain in ass to undo, so i just snipped the wires halfway between the plug and switch. try it. better all round, and two up !!!!

Hmm, don't know if you have the right one.
It should be a black connector that runs together with another cable with a white connector. I have yellow-brown, gray and green-black at the engine side and pale green, yellow-green and blue-red at the gear sensor side. Mine is not an '07, so maybe one of the guys with '07s can check for you... |

![]() Once again: it is really easy to just push the end plates of the wires out of the connector with a small screwdriver. You don't have to touch any of the wire insulation and it is very easy to undo the mod if you have trouble with it (don't know what cutting into the wires does with your warranty). |
