It's a black plug with a green, green-yellow and red-blue wire. The green wire is for neutral, the other 2 for first and 2nd gear.

Here is the adv color code, just keep the green-blue one connected:

My wires are red, black and blue on both the connectors?

The connector to the left seems to be connected to the fuel pump.

The upper connector is a black female half mated with a white male half...in the description it says the other way round?

That's the upper connector looking from the top picture.

At least I wasn't groveling around on the floor! :)
Just put the bike in neutral, and measure resistance between the wire and the engine casing. No resisitance means that's the one to keep. Bin the other two.

My personal opinion is that KTM used the EPC to smooth throttle response out a bit in lower gears. Or maybe I should say that seems to be the primary effect.

I've run it both ways on my 990 by turning it off and on through the ECU and not found much difference.

MY thoughts are .....
The only Time I notice a difference is when rolling on the throttle during a turn from one street to another .... Not sure if that helps but that is when I feel it the most . I can deffently feel the advance in timming .
