To South America and beyond!

Hello All!

Total site noob here so forgive me if I stumble a little with these posts.
So im sitting at work last week thinking of things to do on my time off and it hits me...something that has always been there but in the back of my mind, more like "Yea Matt you will do that eventually just not now"

Well the time is now...its perfect...I have a month off till my next contract comes up and will have sections of 3 week on 3 week off shifts.

Planning on doing the trip in sections to go along with the work schedule...this section should take me to my place in Nicaragua. I will fly down from Alaska to California to buy a 2005 BMW R1200GS and then just hit the road. Sometime around July 7th. Dont have a specific route mapped out just planning on going with the flow...definitely going to stay on the coast of mexico and try and find places to stay with the CS community.

I have been pouring over the threads on this site...wow what an awesome community here! There is so much great information that im sure will be invaluable on my trip.

I will try and post updates and pics along the way

In the meantime can anybody give me feedback on something they wished they would have had on their trip or something they would definitely bring next time?

Im getting a list of everything to pack for the journey with lots and lots of searches on different threads. Im usually a light packer but dont want to miss anything important. So any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
