I read somewhere about a 690 screen fitting a SE or something like that anyway.
I do like a bit of wind protection.
Or anything else that would do the trick.

690 Supermoto screen works best imho. Also 690 Enduro will fit. Height and wind protection is about the same, also price ca 50 Euro. Based on design I prefer SuMo screen. Have this on my bike over 40000km now and quite happy until 120kmh, over that for longer rides I would prefer something higher.

Brown Wire Experts?

Good evening gents

We are in Colombia and sometimes it is very hard to find their "extra" fuel which is high octane, only available is Corriente which is the middle stuff.

I have notice when we pass a truck or something while at elevation we get a ping or two.

So two aspects for my question here, the "extra" fuel is about $1.20 per gallon dearer which is about 20% - 25% when we can get it so,

1, if we pull the brown wire how much loss of performance or mileage is there?

2, Would the loss be 20% or will we even notice the difference? because the cost for the "extra" fuel is dearer it might be worth pulling the brown wire and staying with the normal stuff which is easy to get.

Just food for thought as fuel is one of the bigger costs on our budget and the fuel is only going to get worse south from what I understand.

Input from those in the know welcomed

Hi guys,
Just flew out to San Francisco to pick up my second LC8. This one is a 2007 SE. I gave it an oil change yesterday. Bike has 10k on it, and I'm curious if the white pictured below is symptomatic of a water pump failure or just normal air bubbles? My 990 doesn't have a sight glass so I have nothing to compare it to. The old oil and filter didn't look more wavy than normal. But not knowing the history of this bike, I thought I'd double check with other SE owners before I ride 2500 miles back home.

EDIT: I took it for a 30 minute ride today around Sonoma and didn't notice any coolant levels change in the reservoir but that may not have been a long enough ride...

Same happened to me, ws looking all over checking cables and relays and fuses and and TWO connectors had un-connected themselves!

those "bubbles"on the top of oil level....are normal.

Looks normal, check for coolant loss at the radiator cap not expansion bottle.

Keep the oil level just above the minimum mark, to half way.. easy to overfill the SE, if you fill to the oil level max mark and she will blow excess oil into the air box through the breather. Callerbaration of oil level on my SE took some time to observe that it is on the high side.

Always check the oil level on dry sump engines when the engine is fully up to temperature, after say a 30 minute ride.

If your talking about that white square plug i had mine pull apart about 3 times - leaving me pulling my hair whats left out & happened twice just before going to work which was a night ride.

i wrapped it with electrical tape so they don't pull apart never done it again.

I spent the afternoon trouble shooting why the radiator fans didn't kick in once the bike hit 5 bars. On my 990, when the bike is running hot at 4 or 5 bars the fans will kick on. So I jumpered the thermostat switch and the fan came on as expected! That lead me to the problem of low coolant. I think the PO didn't burp the system, but I'm going to keep an eye on the coolant level.


We spent some time "tweaking" the Scott triple clamp back into place after the PO bent the handlebar mounts. Notice the official KTM orange tweaking bar.


Well, today I'm off from Sonoma to Portland via the Pacific Coast Highway, and then I'll grab the Washington BDR up to Canada where I"ll head east towards Minnesota! Then I plan a full tear down this winter while checking the valves and replacing the water pump to the late model shaft/impeller.

Bleedin' Brakes

My Se has shti for rear brakes ,bled and bled and...
no bubbles but no brakes either.
It'll work when I spin the wheel by hand, but on the road no way,
I might as well not press the pedal but the Swedish MOT won't let it pass.
Will "back flushing" work?
MOT coming up soon so help'll be appreciated.
New fluid and pads by the way.
