No problem and I understand. On the other hand there is no info on what this $40[1] get's you (on his site/on here). I want to support him, but if $40 just gets you the air box plugs, carbs hose caps etc I'll pass. Not sure why there's a bit of cloak and dagger about this, but everyone has the right to advertise as they wish, and good luck to them. I have no beef at al with CJR - he's definately one of the good guys in my book.

cheers

Markie

[1] at today's exchange rate that's ~£25 vs £6.50 for the one on the link I showed so "assume" there's something else, but what?

Are the sprocket bolts on the rear the same size as the other bikes, or do I need to order specific 950 bolts? I am setting up another rear cush drive to swap for road and dirt duty.

Thanks!

Bill

I believe that the bolts, that you're askin' about, are pretty standard for the all the 950/990 (Adventure/Super Enduro) models...if that's what you mean by "the other bikes". I don't believe that they're the same on the little ones (RFS, XC4, two-smokes), because of the absence of a cush drive.

BTW, I finally found the pics. of your beast (in the "What did you do..." thread, I believe). Thanks for posting those. Like I mentioned, I had never seen a "real-life" pic., of the SE, with an orange Aqualine.

Thanks, I could not find any threads that had that info. Yes, I meant the smaller bikes. The local dealerships have no parts for the bike and I did not trust them when they said they were different.

I am pretty happy with the tank, had a nice road ride Sat, and once on the bike I really did not notice the size, even with a full tank. The big test will be the PB300 next month. I wish the orange matched a little bit more, it matches the seat better. I might try to find black pannels, but I am just going to drop it and scratch it up

SE and ADV shock springs

Does anybody know if shock springs between the SE and ADV models are interchangeable?

I'm a new SE owner and I'm interested in hearing what upgrades are recommended for this bike. I've already had the canisterectomy with a set of Akro's and rejetted the carbs. I'm almost ready for a new set of tires and would like to hear what people recommend. I may replace in kind, but was also looking at the Conti TKC 80s and Pirrelli MT90 AT not sure yet.

!WELCOME!

It sounds like you have a lot of the important stuff done to get the bike running correctly. I would recommend a skid plate and side stand bracket for sure. I like the Dunlop 908RR on the rear but have heard good things about the Mefo Explorer for the rear also. I have ran Dunlop 606’s on the front of all my SE’s and liked then until lately, the last couple have not worked out so well. I plan to try the Mefo rear and Pirelli Scorpion Rally front next myself, Javier from Trail Tricks has been saying that combo works very well.

Enjoy the new "BOM" (Big Orange Monster)!

Sort of.

The inner diameter of the SE spring is smaller than the adv spring.
The adv spring on the SE shock will fit - will be a bit big, but I dont think it will affect its function. (For better or worse, thats whats on my SE at the moment)

Extrapolating from that, I dont think the SE spring will fit on the adv shock body - but could be wrong on that.

Picked up an 08 SE and need to do perform a canisterectomy on it. Anybody got some blanking plates, or can point me to the best source for them?

I'll post up some pics when I get a chance. Very nice ride.

I had one before, but for some stupid reason sold it. Just couldn't get the SE off my mind, so I pulled the trigger on another 1.

Thanks WP and BD. Just couldn't stay away from BIG ORANGE.

Thanks for the recommendation. I do like dealing with CJ Design. Think I'll check out the vendor's section and see who's supporting ADV. That's who I'll buy from.
