Did you get a new reflash at the same time or the update?
When I spoke with AF-1 they couldn't do the Gen 2 update. So I sent mine to
ECUnleashed for the update. I shouldn't complain because they don't charge for it
but their customer service SUCKS. Not a single response to emails, no number to call.
Tracking confirmation it was delivered a while ago and not a word of what's going on.

AF-1 was fantastic to work with.

I was up there at AF-1 when Snakebitten got his flash...

He got a *NEW* Gen 2 flash. His bike was completely stock, ECU-wise, and he had never had the Gen 1 flash.

And you're right, Pluric - Ed at AF-1 cannot do the Gen 1 to Gen 2 *update* re-flash. Perhaps I shouldn't phrase it quite that way... Actually he could do a Gen 2 flash to an ECU that had a Gen 1 flash, but he'd have to charge full price for it - full-pop retail - just like you were buying it the first time...

Why, you may ask?

Well, he and I had a long time about that. You see, he "buys" each flash file from ECUnleashed, and they won't sell him one without a VIN, etc. It's not like he gets to re-use the same Gen 2 flash file (or even Gen 1) over and over. Instead, each one is sold on a separate invoice. Believe me, it makes Ed far from happy, and he thinks it makes no sense whatsoever that ECUnleashed can do the free update themselves but won't allow their authorized dealers to do it.

Believe me, Ed and I talked about every angle we could think of so I could get a Gen 2 update from him, but no luck - that is unless he got a whole new flash file and I paid for it. Like you, I've had nothing but terrific dealings with AF-1 over the years, and that's why I'd prefer Ed there to do the update. That said, just over a week ago Ed told me to go ahead and contact ECUnleashed, and he said he'd trust them to do the update and get my ECU back to me in a safe and timely manner.

And I have e-mailed ECUnleashed, as well as contacted them through their website on their form, and no reply... Nothing. Zip. Zero... And it's been 5 or 6 days now.

Good thing I'm happy with my Gen 1 flash!

Dallara

Thanks for the explanation. I didn't know the fine details of how the individual reflashes worked.
I'm so busy helping my son fix his rental property I haven't had time to ride. It's just annoying having
the bike down and no communication as to when I could expect the ECU back.

Not to obvious, just enough to make it recognizable and the red/white fit nicely with the existing blue.
If I was from the US and I had the blue one, I would copy/adapt the idea, because I think it really compliments the bike.
(the helmet, ehm ...... not so nice)

I think you all have it wrong.

It is the good nature of the Yamaha riders that they risk allowing a liability to ride with them and the BMW rider is riding with the Yams as it gives him a measure of reassurance for when his bike packs up.

Mr. Bill Gates figured out how to get his program on every computer without the hassle of dealing with selling to john q. public, sell it to the builder of the computer. People bought the computer and never even thought about having a choice as to what OS.

Hi Pluric,

Clearly I cannot go to a dealer to get my Gen 2 upgrade so I ask, where exactly did you send your ECU to ?

I may be passing there and get it done on the spot. Obviously in my currently traveling situation I cannot send it off.

I will also email them but that seems like a waste of time !!!

I sent mine to:

ECUnleashed Tuning Technology
8209 Foothill Blvd, Suite #A122
Sunland, CA 91040

Have no idea how to get a hold of them to confirm if they will do it on the spot.
They don't return emails and right now I regret sending them my ECU for the update.

If you are going to be in Texas I would go with these guys. Fantastic to work
with and did Snakebitten's bike while he waited.... on a Sunday!
