Resturant at BRP / Skyline Drive?

Hey - can someone refresh my memory - what's the name of the resturant at the south end of Skyline Drive / the north end of the BRP? In a couple weeks the DC Vintage BMW motorcycle club is going to do Skyline end-to-end and I want to suggest that the ride start with breakfast at ?

Iirc, it's just called "The Inn" at Afton Mountain. Cool place. The dining room has a killer view.

Yep, that's the name.. I just googled up this picture of it.

ddlewis screwed with this post 11-11-2004 at 01:58 PM Reason: picture..

There's a restaurant there? F*CK!

How can I have lived in Charlottesville for 17 years and not have known that?

But ... are they going to do it in ONE DAY?

Yep, though it will be the whole day. I have one of the faster rides, and I'm only good for 60MPH WFO.

It's definitely an all-day dealio if you're averaging, say, 55 MPH. Hard to do this time of the year unless you don't mind riding in the dark.

Skyline, not BRP. Easy to do that in half a day. BRP can be done in less than a day also (BDDD).

You can see why I never knew about the restaurant ...

I can't even read a post correctly.

Sorry, I've got my mind on riding the BRP in one day as I just made plans with a friend to do so next June.

Man, you better get an early start if you are going to do BRP in one day. I made it back from Cherokee in about 6 hours with no fuss or muss but the ride down the BRP was hindered by a lot of day time traffic last year about that time. BTW I am on the other side of the mountain so give me a shout if you want to get dirty and try Saint Marys Wilderness (Big Levels) over near Sherando Lake.

Saturday, November 27 at 11:30 at The Inn at Afton Mountain. This is, of course, weather and vintage bikes permitting.

BRP in less than one day no matter what time of year will have you leaving and arriving way after dark. BRP in one day is not a realistic timeframe.

No way, man. In late September or early October we left the northern end at 7:00 (sunup) and were in Cherokee by about 4 in the afternoon. We were making good time, and certainly not wasting any, and we did Deal's Gap (out and back) and the Cherohala before the sun went down.

Are you riding at go to jail speeds or stoping for fuel only?
