Nippissing Trail question

Does this part of the Nippissing Trail exist and is it doable ? We're heading out Friday on a trip and are just fine tuning the route. Thanks

Doable, but I haven't gone all the way through, only from Seguin Falls to about where that arrow points. I was by myself and turned around.
Just small puddles and scattered rocks, nothing crazy.

RobbieO may know?

I tried it a couple of years ago(2 up with jr on DRZ) and got turned back by a water crossing. The whole area was suffering from a wet year so it may not have been indicative.

Don't sneak up on any of the Forces

Heres the on-line topo map link, it's pretty useful for following the Nipptrail.

+1 on that

Once I got to that point (twice, actually), I couldn't really find my way further South. Not sure if I was in the right spot.

I'm home now!!

Driving south from 518 is a lot of fun! It becomes part of the snowmobile trail to Rosseau.
Just don't expect to ride to Rosseau on this route. It peeters out at a swamp. It's actually a bird sanctuary and is very nice, but not passable.

Thanks for the advice.

Got a good route planned for the weekend I think.
Ompah to North Bay

Ontario Hydroline Rd - Lingham Lk Rd
Hastings Rail Trail
Pencil Lake Road - Eels Rd
Haliburton Rail Trail
Seguin Trail
Nippissing Road
And a bunch of other atv trails, snowmobile trails, fire routes and backroads.

Pics to follow on Monday :)

rough trail

the trail goes straight off on a hard right hand curve of the road to bird sanctury
it is very lightly used and is easy to pass by it - a skidoo marker is there I think

In 2007 four of us came through from the south end - off bearcave road
there is a very nasty spot with logs in it for the skidoo's only a short distance in
just after you pass a hunt camp -- this was impassable in sept - will look for a pic later
we had a local guy that knew a trail that bypassed this spot - a hunting trail at best
this bypass was totally hard core - a line if you could find it - through the bush!!!
I was on a XR650 and was sucking hard - the ktm's were not so much

after getting around that spot we picked up the trail - nice going for a good way
then we come up on a giant swamp with tall grass and a dry but spongey bottom
we followed across this for 500 yards or so - a hardly visable trail at best

then comes a flooded area - over the seat on the ktm520 - and deeper to go yet
there was a culvert in the middle of it - maybe was lower water level before???

we had to double back and took a different fork in the trail - headed west somewhat
Not going to go back the way we came - thats for sure !!!
we rode for a good while - on decent trail - finally coming out at star lake (Orville area)
low on gas it was good to see the road - really should take the gps on these rides!

the next year on a road ride I noticed a massive orange fence at the spot where we
came out at star lake - massive "NO ATV's" signs all over it - dam atv's strike again

we rode in from the north end in 2008 - October to see how far we could get?
a few puddles and a bypass around the end of a pond ( beat down by atv's)
and we were up to the "flooded swamp with the culvert in the middle"
But the atv's had bush whacked a trail around the east end of it to a creek crossing
made from two logs at a atv wheel spaced gap - probably 16 foot across

Getting to late to cross it ( and not being likely to get out south end anyway)
we turned back -it gets dark early in october

I will look for a picture or two later

That about describes it Weldit, our Hunt Camp is a lil east of Spence lake and some of our land is accessible by an original branch of the Nipptrail that the locals call the "Missionary Road". Apparently it was build by the original settlers/pioneers. We have an old graveyard on our land that dates back to the early 1800's. Here is what we deal with getting in.... no way would I attempt on any bike.

What are you towing that sled behind? A quad?

Ok, so it's doable up to where I turned around.
I didn't realize it was this wild further on!

Seems to be the concensus.

RobbieO and some GTA guys tried 3 or four springs past. A lot of ground was still frozen and may have helped but I can't remember details. There was a short thread running with detail you may wish to dig up.

watch out for the sasquatch

There are sections so f&cked up that the quads get bogged down so we use a Rhino with some special tires...
