Need help with Hazard Lights r1150gs

Hello,

I have a 2006 r1150gs adventure, and the hazard lights don't work. Turn signals work fine, but hazards don't. Only clue I have is that the light inside the switch is always on.

The two obvious culprits would be the flasher or the switch. Both expensive, and non returnable electrical items.

I don't have a problem replacing either item, but would prefer that it fix the problem, so I'm hoping someone here has seen the same symptoms and fixed the problem.

Thank you in advance for any and all assistance!

Thank you for the reply. I'm not sure if it helps, but it is a good reference.

I also tried to take the switch housing apart, found and removed 3 screws, but the assembly would not come apart. I'll get more aggressive later, if I need to. ;-)

In my research, I found that the red light is always on in that switch, so that wasn't a clue at all.

Since the bike is like new, with only 4500 miles on it, and the previous owner parked it in the garage, I find it difficult to accept that the switch could have been damaged. Not impossible, though. ;-)

The rear turn signals had been relocated, and I repaired the wiring there. The brake light has a fancy LED device ... do the hazards interact with the tail light? I'll check that out ...

My gut tells me it may be the flasher at this point. Would love to find someone that would try mine on their bike and test it.

Thank you.

Sir,

If you press both turn switches at the same time, you'll also get the hazard lights. In this way you check if it is the switch or the flasher unit.

Thank you for your reply.

When I press both turn signal switches, both sides flash, however, it will not stay on if I let go of the switches. If it should stay on, what does this indicate?

I checked the tail light, and converting back to bulb has no effect.

Thank again!
