Ken Lay blames motorcyclists' 'stupidity' for high biker road toll
Call me a cynic but it looks like it's almost time to stock up on personal lubricant in anticipation of the latest Vic dramatic initiatives to curb the soaring motorcycle road toll.
Today's press releases and apperance on the Neil Mitchell talkshow seem worryingly similar to the propaganda that proceeded the introduction of the TAC "safety" levy. Yes, the road toll is disgusting. Yes, there are too many idiots doing stupid things on bikes. Yes, the road laws should be enforced. Unfortunately, trotting out the usual rubbery figures, increasing penalties, more restrictions which typically do nothing to the idiots but target currently law abiding riders is not going to have any impact other than increase revenue to the govt. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/vic...-1225883146873 |

The photo in that report looks pretty suss to me.
We're all law breaking deviants anyway so what does the public care if a few more of us die.

However if twice as many motorcyclists are being killed on our roads and they are blaming the hoon riders for this then they can throw the book at em. Less of the wankers on the road the better. |

yeah...going by the size of the rear tyre it's a 125 motocross bike and the guy has one foot on the peg and the other on the tail of the bike.
At 111kph it'd be nearly maxed out Deliberate stunt in front of the camera - just gets the rest of us in the shit

I heard the last of Neil Mitchells talk with him and with the comments being put across by Neil (Motorcyclist are idiots) no wonder not too many people look out for bike riders and think we are all law breaking trouble makers

So all 32 unfortunate motorcyclists were riding like idiots? I don't think so mr policeman.
How about this for a headline... "public blames police 'corruption' for poor cleanup rate of serious crime"... see Mr Lay, we can all generalise our way to totally ridiculous headline inaccuracy. I wonder how the family of the deceased feel about the stupidity comment?

Is this the same "Ken Lay" that through his "stupid behavior" got nabbed for failing to adhere to the speed limit while driving through a town "putting lives at risk"? I believe that is "completely outrageous" Mr. Lay.
I don't have a problem with a safety push, but we need to look at all the facts. Oh how many times have we seen cages not use their optional mirrors and indicators. Oh I could go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on.....

Typical police rhetoric.. blame the victims for not doing enough to protect themselves. VIC police seem to spend a lot of time blaming victims, whether motorcyclists, pedestrians, or cyclists. We live in a world dominated by car's, so everything is framed from their point of reference, and that point of view is that motorcycles, cyclists, and pedestrians are nothing more than a nuisance who are a danger to themselves, and do nothing but "slow" cars down.

...75 per cent of motorcyclists involved in a fatality were at fault.
This is the best quote of all from honest Ken Lay (from the Age online article):
http://theage.drive.com.au/motor-new...0623-ywqs.html So only 25% of car drivers involved in motorcycle fatalities are at fault - sorry, lost too many mates to this very thing to believe this BS ![]() If only car drivers in this State had to do anywhere near the same amount of pre-licence training that motorcyclists have to do rather than clocking up 100 hours with their dozy parents who only impart their same bad habits? What about teaching them (car drivers) some real vehicle control and awareness skills, just as motorcyclists have to do by the very nature of the activity? Cheers, Adv uNCUT |

I know I'm getting a bit long in the tooth and the eye's don't work quite as well at they used to, but I reckon the riders feet are at different heights. That makes the bike in the picture something like a downhill mountain bike or trials bike, the brain bucket would fit the profile of a downhill or trials MTB helmet too.
As for 111 km/hr................ in the riders dreams. Course I could be wrong. |

Job-justification by tired old dinosaurs in a tired system that's run out of ideas, to divert attention from a proven failed effort to reduce the death toll through raising revenue and wasted money on "safety" cameras.
Wonder how much of our money is spent to buy prime-time television for the police propaganda on Ch 7? I'm picking at least ten million dollars a year.
