Here let me help you get nothing done the rest of the afternoon, especially for Rockgarden Bob and Footdragger.
That was quite the race Johnny Walker walked away with,I watched footage of it and he never slowed down, admitted to maybe 1 or 2 mistakes the whole way, amazing!

It was pretty much a KTM 300 benefit, some with husky graphics but the 300 2 stroke has been the bike of choice for a while. Not many 4 strokes persevering through, they dont seem to have the instant get up and go to do the Erzeberg climbs. Even the announcers were poking fun at the over heating bogging out on climbs 4 strokers.

One would think a 500 would out climb a 300 but it doesnt go that way.

After Matole get over to Honeydew and then ride dirt thru Kings Peak, this will take you to the epic Usal Road and down to Usal Beach, which is a great place to overnight camp.
Continue south on Usal Road and it will pop out near the beginning of Hwy 1. I'd then head down past Mendicino to around Elk and then head into the valley thru Boonville and Ukiah (there are some really, really good curvies in here).
Thank you so much for the tips. Amazing, some of what I planned after 36 you mentioned. Thanks again. I'll post again when I'm in the area maybe so a day ride with some of you guys? Should be middle of July (12th-19th ish)

Break in Ride

Planning a little road ride tomorrow - Chico to Oroville; 162 to Quincy; 89 to 32, and back to Chico. This will bring the new bike to just over 600 miles. Any construction or other concerns to watch out for? Does anyone want to join me? I plan to leave around 7am.
Brian

I may just join you...

...Look for a message tonight after I get home and look at some things. Where do you want to meet?

sorry about the last post,

I wasn't showing your reply. If you're going up 162 let's meet in Oroville, if you're going up 32 the place you mention sounds good. (?) I coming from Magalia and will be on a 2009 red KLR

No worries. I didn't realize you were coming down from magalia. Let's meet in Oroville; google maps shows an am/pm at the corner of Oroville Dam Blvd and Olive Hwy. (Dropped Pin near 2639 Oro Dam Blvd E, Oroville, CA 95966
http://goo.gl/maps/dkQGV). Sound ok? Meet closer to 7:30am.

Two red bikes? Yep, that was us! Great, smooth ride. Heck, reddog1 even knew where we were going! My bike is happily sitting in the garage with 600 miles on the dot showing on the the odo.

I didn't take any . That was at the top of Bucks Lake Summit during a pitstop . I didn't get a chance to tell you, I lived in Quincy for 7 years from 1978 to 1985. A lot of changes in town since then.
I had a good time Brian, Thanks for the ride.
Bikes all cleaned and serviced, all loaded up for trip to Oregon.

Looks like you guys had fun. Brian, congrats on the bike. I am not sure if you have interest in this or not but I am selling my 2013 800 gs. I have a buyer interested in it but he does not need my Garmin montana 650 with 24k topo and city nav installed as well as dvd's, my Sargent seat as it is normal height and he is extremely tall, and my lockable/waterproof Jesse hard panniers and quick release top plate with Pelican case. I will send you my personal contact info and let me know if you are interested. I would hate to part the bike out as shipping those heavier items will cost me but it may work out well for everyone if you are interested. Pelican case is not in the picture but it clips on securely and is watertight/lockable as well. Here's a link to my ad on advrider so you can see the bags seat and gps. http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=981880

Brien, Glad your healing up well. We will have to chat, when is Oregon trip?

Hi Jeramie...

"when is Oregon trip? "

Leaving today hopefully around noon. Been a long time since I've done a motorcycle trip this far by myself. Looking forward to this trip, my first rally.
