I need to pre-ride a small section of the Crown Point Rally this Saturday. the Section we will ride is the hard split of the easy route and is only a few miles long but the days ride will be about 100 mile of mostly easy dirt roads and paved back roads. we'll be meeting at the Country Waffle in Chico in the Raley's Parking lot on the Skyway and Notre Dame, ready to ride at 8:00 am. Should be about a 4 hr. ride total. Anyone is welcome to join us as long as you can maintain a good pace and ride a lighter enduro type bike.
Thanks Bob

Does a 1200 Triumph count as a lighter enduro type bike? Its smaller then some. If other guys can help I can get it in some tighter fireroads.

Then come home. that's a short ride of just over three hours from my house which is at the foothill of Hogsback Rd. Or we could then hit the twisties from Mineral past camp Tehama and hit 36 at childs meadows and hit 32 back down the hill.

The Twisties between Childs Meadows and Mineral are some of the best in Northern California. I recommend hitting them in that direction as you can stay off the brakes a little better while gaining elevation. I could go up there and just ride that, round and round.
Ive gone downhill on those twistys on a road bicycle drafting just inches off a truck that was hauling ass........
It seemed pretty safe at the time.

Also drafted a tandem once going down 36 and hit 64 mph briefly, nearly sh*t the shorts.

Going tomorrow regardless! Placer to Igo, Muletown to Peltier Valley rd to Brandy Creek. Up Shasta Bally and back, then over the Powerhouse Rd to 299. Up 299 to the old stagecoach road to Lewiston then back on Deadwood to French Gulch, up East to the OHV park and out at the dam....

I should have been watching this sooner and could have made plans to join you and anyone else. I try and make a loop thru the Park a few times each season. I agree the roads to and from are great and the Park is quite special. However I suspect Holiday traffic on a special opening is going to make travel thru the park pretty slow. You might not make your route in 3 hours.

Is this a special free access or do you still have to pay to go through?

$5 for motorcycles.Well worth the price. Perfect day yesterday, almost a little cold near the summit. If you go today or tomorrow bring something warm.

The road wasn't very crowded, we made pretty good time.
