Riding this weekend ?

Who planning on riding a loop this weekend.
I am not sure of my plans and would like some back-up ideas.
With this weather I need very little camping gear for an overnighter.
Day rides of under 200 miles with as much dirt roads as possible.
Ideas like Tedon, Rat trap. Raglin Ridge. and I need a guild for High Lakes.
Would like to drop into Butt Lake from Chico. and the list goes on.

I was over the handle bars last weekend on my Trials bike, and need to have a calmer time this weekend. I will be slow and steady and not looking for a race buddy.

Wish I was available this weekend to hit up some of these spots with you. You mentioned Rat Trap. Is it off of Highway 36? I could have sworn I saw a brown sign for it yesterday on our trip to Fortuna. It was the first time I had been on 36 west for maybe 20 years...I couldn't believe the amount of well marked forest service roads just beggin' to be ridden. Sadly our schedule was tight and we only had enough time to get to Fortuna, unload, ride down Mattole Rd. out of Ferndale (Go ride this if you haven't! its all paved). Huge burger in Redway, get turned around 17 times due to private property north of Briceland Rd, Use our bailout plan and ride the dirt bikes up the Avenue of the Giants pack up and get home to make it to work. Have fun this weekend if I don't talk to ya!

Rat Trap

Rat Trap is off 36 if you like. You would turn onto Tedoc, off 36. it is past the wild horse Ranch, where you see all the rv's stored by people out of the city that have shares in that "R Ranch" or the wild horse ranch.

Rat Trap Gap is also obtained by heading out Reeds Creek road out of Red Bluff. 36 may be fun and all but for a dirt alternative I take this route for a more adventure style ride to the coast. I used to Take Rat Trap Gap but it has a slide and so now I have to continue on to Stuart gap, where I take different dirt roads and get gas at Ruth before returning on and coming out at Redway. I cross the Highway and ditch it out toward Shelter cove. Bump down the coast and return back out through Covelo.

But as any good ride goes, I may change my mind and go the other way.

A good day ride is to go out Reeds Creek Road and follow it through, up the hill, past rat Trap and continue out to 36 and then buzz home via the Hwy.

Chuck this would be a good ride for us some day, you could split off at the Ditch grade.

Witch in itself is a great twisty road.

This Sunday the 25th is National Park Service Birthday, (Free park day)

Still a bit warm for my riding and the bike isn't ready to roll out the door at the moment, the rear has a slow leak, I ordered chain/sprockets, swing arm chain slider and a new front tire,
as soon as all the parts arrive and it gets cool enough to work out in the garage there is going to be some wrenchin' going on.

May be my last ride for the year. I have 2 bikes in need of some serious attention so I need to get settled into my new place and get to tearing my bikes down. 09 has a bad oil leak and the 90KLR is burng a lot of oil. Won't tear it down until I get the 09 back running. Got to have a local trail bike

As a heads up, there is a 1500 acre fire east of Los Molinos out towards black rock.

Hop-Sing- Nice Route to Shelter Cove. Looks like 180 miles. OK route for big adventure bikes?
