For Saturdays Dual Sport ride I'll have tracks available tomorrow. Just pre-rode the route today, need to edit out all the wrong turns and sections not suitable for this ride. So more info tomorrow. Thanks Bob, bob@ironmandualsport.com

This route is no problem on a DR650?

DR650, KTM, BMW, Goldwing you name it. Hadn't realized how hard it is to put together an absolutely easy ride. Every road I wanted to use had some kind of obstacle, wash out, rock garden, etc. etc. But I think I got it figured out pretty well. The whole point of this ride is to get local riders together, and hopefully plan future rides. More tomorrow. Bob

Um, Goldwings? Now I'm concerned.

All kidding aside, I have provisional support from the spouse. I plan to ride. Looking forward to meeting you.

People keep telling me...

...the work will still be there when you get back, and it is
I think I'm going to play all weekend since all I did last weekend was work.
Suppose it'll all be there next week and eventually it'll get done.

And this is my weekend to hit the Lost Coast and all of you are riding around here.
I'll be camped out at Shelter Cove Friday-Sunday in my crusty "Breaking Bad" motorhome if anyone is in the area, stop in for a beer.

OK so I wouldn't ride a Goldwing on it, but I would ride a GS on it or any other big Adventure bike. This ride is probably best for 650cc Dual Sport bikes but anything 200cc or larger would be fine.
Looks like the route I've chosen is a total of 120 miles. From Chico Honda it's about 75 miles to Butte Meadows for lunch and fuel. This section is probably a 60% / 40%, dirt / pavement mix. I think the average riding time will be about 3-4 hours including stops along the way. After lunch at Butte Meadows it's 45 miles of paved back-roads to Chico, of course there are several dirt alternatives for the return trip and maybe we can get a group together at lunch who wants to take the long way home.
So I was going to post a screen shot of the track but to zoom out far enough on my Basecamp all detail is lost, so you'll just have to come ride it to find out. I can email the GPS tracks to anyone who wants them just send me an email, bob@ironmandualsport.com Please specify if you want tracks or a route, GDB or GPX . I will also have my laptop with me at Chico Honda 8:30am Saturday morning and can download tracks to most Garmin GPS.
Brad the house can wait and if your not going to Moonrocks might as well ride with us.
Well hope to see lots of new faces Saturday. Thanks Again Bob

Thanks for setting this up, unfortunately I have caught whatever plague is going around so I won't be able to make it, actually I was hoping to catch up with you guys in route because my body doesn't do early and hence the reason I was hoping you could make a route to share to see If that was a option.
I would still like see the route and will email you in just a min.

Thanks !!! to everyone who showed up for the ride. We had I believe 16 riders with quite a mix of bikes, several KLRs a KTM Adventure a few XR 650Ls, DR 650s, DRZ 400s, a couple of new KTM 500 excs my BRP, and of course one super clean Super Sherpa. Today's ride was a pretty short ride to Butte Meadows for lunch and then an easy ride home. I hope everyone had a great time and had a chance to meet other local riders.
If there's enough interest I'd like to put together a longer ride in about 2-3 weeks. I already have the GPS tracks for most of this ride having done it several times before. Stage in or around Oroville, head up 162 towards Bucks Lake, at Brush Creek head down to Milsap Bar and across the middle fork of the Feather River, from there head to LaPorte for lunch and gas then the Quincy/LaPorte Rd. to Quincy, then the Bucks lake Rd. to Bucks lake and home. There are several dirt options along this route and could be an optional route. Anyone interested lets hear from you, got better route ideas, Great lets hear them. OK here's a couple pictures from the ride. I really suck at taking ride pictures, to hard for me to stop. Thanks Again, Bob
