Ok,,,back to work.

The pic showing the frame twisting convinced me to put the third crossmember just in front of the rear axle.

I spent some time drilling the rest of the holes in the frame so I don't have to frig with them after the bed goes on. This was quite time consuming.

Now that the rear part of the frame is pretty much ready to at least test fit the bed I was able to start prepping it.

Basicly the wheels moved rearward the same distance that the main body crossmembers are apart. So now I have to cut any secondary supports out of the way so the wheels will fit.

I managed to get most of that done this afternoon,,,so tomorrow I can finish up and If I can get some manpower I can set the bed in place and she'll really begin to take shape.

There's some cool bus conversions out there and I had one myself but no matter what you do to one,,,,,,no matter how cool it is,,,,,It's still a School Bus!

I test fit the bed this afternoon and after finding out that the outer dual wheels touch the outside of the body,,,,I've decided to scratch trying to use the old hardware for that and start fresh.

If the wheels didn't touch I'd use what I have but now it's just going to be more work to make this work than just go to the local steel place and get what I need to start over.

Too bad I spent several hours prepping this piece of shit to end up not using it anyway.

The first stage of welding is now comeplete.

My main man Steve hooked me up and we got the end cap welded into place this morning.

This will allow me to now drill the holes in the frame where the frame mount goes and button that up.
We still have to fit in a few more floor supports but after that I can begin to button up the body.
This weekends camping trip got cancelled due to weather so I get a couple more days to devote to this thing.

It's about a half mile from my house to Steves where we did the welding this morning,,,,anyway on the way back home there were a couple guys getting ready to work at another neighbors property.

Well,,,, the looks on their faces as I drove this thing past was pricless.

I chuckled the rest of the way home.

The work I,ve been doing lately doesn't have high visual impact. The little details have been consuming many hours of late.

I have another date with Mr Miller on Wednesday ,,,so the bed should start to take shape.
