I'm pretty sure I know why the old one failed.

The oilpan bolts that go into the carrier have washers at least 3/16ths of an inch thick, the others don't.
Without the washer the bolt is long enough to bottom out and one of the center bolts didn't have a washer on it.
Bolt bottomed out and cracked the housing bigger'n shit.

Some meathead must've done an oilpan gasket and mixed up the bolts as I found a random one in the block with a thick washer.

Due to a small SNAFU getting everything together to put the transmission in, I've decided not to wait to shorten the body again.

It will be at least a week before I have what I need to install the transmission so I'll use this time to hopefully have the endcap moved forward.

While I'm at it the rear half of the entrance door is going bye bye too.

I don't need an opening that big and I will need the floor space after shortening the body.

I finished the cutting and hacking over the weekend and managed to move the rear body section just about into position.

A little tweaking this week and it will be time to start buttoning things back up.

I managed to move the body by myself but I had to get creative to get it done and not kill myself in the process.
Two tiedowns and some leverage got er done.
