Any chance you could send me a Google map, gps file or description of the go around so I can fix up the gps files with a new revision?

Cheers

Do not have a gps track. But gotta a picture from esrd pdf file for the area.
At waypoint 62 the inn of the border is just to the ne. At the end of the orange trail. You want to go in at waypoint 61. And then go to waypoint 60 or 59. Way point 58 is tent pass and waypoint 57 is ptolemy pass. The red line is the crowsnest highway or highway 3. The white area to the west is all bc. Hope this helps.

Ohh and the Inn on The Border caters to quaders , dirt bikers and snow mobiles. Access trails from the motel.

I am not clear with that. The GPS point I provided is point 62 in the drawing. So where is the inn?
Google Earth does not show any track over Tent Mountain pass, there is a gap of 300 meters or so, but there is a track over Ptolemy pass for sure, and the track "08 BC 01 Tech Alternative" coincides with what Google shows.
But the sign I posted was right at the entrance. Anyway, may try it this weekend, family allows.

I hope I get to travel all or part of that route someday. My wife has a friend in Victoria bc it would be quite the adventure to go from Bridgetown ns to Victoria bc on nothing but gravel.

OK, the "road closed" sign indicates closed road around Island Ridge, which has nothing to do with "08 BC 01 Tech alternative" track, but the very first 6 km or so.

We went through there in mid-Aug. The road has a river running down it, but easily navigated (not deep).

From Wawa south

A couple of weeks ago two of us rode the TCAT trail from Wawa back to south of Huntsville I thought i would post a bit of a re cap and a few photos.

Day 1 part one
After a quick breakfast at Tim Hortons we headed south to pick up the tech section towards Halfway Haven. All was good and we were making good time until, Fn.... beavers. The beavers built a dam over the trail, after a quick look-see there was a way, just ride four feet up and over the dam in to the pond and out the other side. It actually went pretty smoothy, them beavers build things solid. Unfortunately the next water we came across proved to be long and deep. There was a 5 foot wide ditch followed by a long water crossing, we walked it, pondered it, turned around and were back in Wawa by lunch, at tim’s of course.

If you look quick, it looks like you're wheelieing into the lake.

From Wawa south

Day one part 2

After lunch we ride north then east to pick up the TCAT’s main route. All was good until, Perry’s Pond, hmmmmm looks deep, lets try bushwhacking around it, twenty feet in both bikes were stuck, we manages to get out with minimal sweat loss but again we were forced to retreat by water. Its now one in the afternoon and after the failed attempt at the tech section in the morning and now this we haven't made any progress south yet. Not to worry just pick up the pace. The road to Halfway Haven is a nice stretch, it narrows to a single lane and offers some nice views specially during peak fall season. At Halfway Haven we fill the tanks, chatted with the owner for a bit and pushed on. We finished the Sultan Rd at dusk and after quick meal at a truck stop we pull in to Gogama in the dark. There were no rooms to be had but we found a place to camp, lake side.

Day 2
We packed up and headed to Timmins for breakfast. Todays plan, get to North Bay.

Gogama lake side accommodation, nice spot.

Today there was a lot of this

A couple hours of this

This twisty section along the river is very cool. The grader was working it so a long stretch was deep sand with hidden rocks.

We hit the rail trail around 6:20, managed to do around 40km before it got dark and we decided to get off. Cant say I enjoyed this section, the bridge was cool, the whoops and sections of loose rock, not so much.

Next the home stretch...
