Would suggest carrying a small atv electric winch and some line for self extraction.

Looking to do some parts of this between Nova Scotia and Ontario just above the UP I will have a fairly new rider with me so is there any areas I need to avoid? I would like mostly gravel and tame two track.

Thanks
Ed

Hi Ed, shoot me an email and we can discuss

Adrian took a crash between Sioux Lookout and Ear Falls. Limped his bike out to Ear Falls and it is being transported to Winnipeg for repairs. He is okay, got a concussion and is also being driven to Winnipeg. Sounds like a bunch of inmates are helping him out. Maybe he will chime in with some details....i got this info from Facebook.

Glad to hear you're okay Adrian and the bike is fixable. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to get the required parts

Only on the occasional weekend :(

Got back to Australia in March and the bike was about 4 weeks behind me. Been running a small IT Project since April.

I think I will try to fund another trip to Russia in 2016.

I'm safely in Winnipeg now, going to the BMW shop tomorrow to get the damage assessed.

The TCAT from St John's through to Baie Comeau is a piece of cake on a fully loaded R1200GSA. In Quebec the logging roads are easy but some of the double tracks between them are easily passable but remote... Although I was on my own. I didn't find any tracks I couldn't ride until I hit Ontario and that was only because I was on my own and didn't want to attempt something that might get me properly stuck.

It you have specific sections you want to try drop me a line.

When are you going to be setting off? I'm picking my gf up from Calgary airport next Thursday and we'll be setting off from there on Friday to do the last leg of the TCAT to Vancouver Island.

I'm heading out this morning Adrian. Still waffling back & forth with myself as to whether or not I'm going to jump on the trail in Turner Valley or is I'm just going to blast down the Cowboy Trail (Hwy 22) to the Maycroft road. As I play in the Porcupine Hills quite a bit I am familiar with the route down there already, I am leaning toward heading straight to Maycroft Road and heading south on the 940 from Dutch Creek. I haven't been south of Dutch Creek on 940 in years.
