Yes for some reason we decided it was worth seeing how wet Burntlands is...the answer was very.

Entering this optional tech section you travel down hill for a mile or two....an ominous sign when there is 3-5 inches of water running down the trail. In the back of your mind you keep screamin "what the feck is it goning to be like when we hit the bottom"

It looks like you could have used a canoe for a big section of that.. nice little riffles and rapids to navigate and everything!

I can see that GoPro is going to get a good workout this year!

Agreed Chris, adding video is going to be a nice addition. Like all things using the GoPro seems to have a learning curve. I've it had it pointed to low it would seem, having the horizon line about half way up the screen would make it a bit easier on the eye's.

Stephn (Quantis) is a professional photograpger and has taken on the role of videographer and is going to put together a 30-60 minute DVD we'll be packaging with the book. New to video but keen I think he'll end up with something to compliment the TCAT guidebook

A slow start to spring this year but it's coming, I'm very much looking forward to this season as it promises some fun trips.

Yesterday was the first day this year where it felt like spring, my home thermometer was showing a high of 18 C... We were out in a jif checking the routes and side trips...

Some teasers from yesterday

This is a great spot to camp on the route, Victoria lake..

Another is Muchalat Lake

A lot of melting to take place

This is around the 1200' level

1800' level

If the weather is nice the side trip to Tahsis is a must do if you can spare the time... It will add about 180 additional KM to the log ...

Tahsis to Winter Harbour

Sorry to have missed the NorthIslanders. I rode up the Woss and checked out Winter Harbour. Great ride and excellent weather.

Hi Dave,

We rode around town a bit and then talked to the fellow at the store, he said the Baja couple were camped at the lake so we stopped and had a quick visit on the way out.. They had saw you go by earlier on, so I guess we almost crossed paths... It was a long, fantastic day of riding. We started 8:30 AM, finished up at 9:30 PM and covered nearly 600 KM... Next time the camping gear is coming with us to make the day a bit shorter...

Nice shot you took of Conuma, the Arch inside the chimney really shows itself in this pic...

40cm actually... Another 4 inches is due on Wednesday but we should get some rain too. It's going to be an adventure up in the mountains(by eastern standards anyway...) even by the end of may. Haha. At least the sled dudes are having a blast. Bastards.

I may have mentioned that we are hosting a pre ride of a couple of days of the TCAT at the end of May termed the Roaming Rally...Stephen is honing his video skills

Fab, you've got me a bit nervous about our May ride out to your neck of the woods......snow going to be gone by then

It is supposed to be gone. But then again, some older folks say they've never seen this much snow this late and they've been going in the woods for over 30 years. My guess is that it will be mostly gone but we may get some difficult riding conditions. Off-road (and I don't mean TKC's) tires will be a good insurance if not a necessity.
