+1. Very cool! Nice job setting goals and achieving them.
I spent a long time trying to set goals and work toward them, just getting bored after a couple weeks and forgetting about it. Then I found triathlon, and somehow the three different disciplines gave me the variety to actually stay entertained enough to work out every day.

That's been happening to me a lot lately. I have to PT test every 3 years for work but other than that, I was getting really bored. I started hiking a bit but just don't have the time to commit to it with working 2 jobs and having a 4yo and a newborn. I lost a lot of interest in other outside activities too, namely snowboarding. I got sick of dealing with all the people and lines, so I started splitboarding and hitting the backcountry and that rejuvenated my want to ride in the winter. Only downfall is that I need a new board and the one that I want starts at 800 for just the board.

Finish later - got a call......damn work always getting in the way...

BTW - proud dad

Called my daughter on Saturday to wish her a happy 15th birthday. She asked me to guess what she did that morning, to which I had no clue. Her response - "I did a triathlon". You could have knocked me over with a feather.

She's not the most driven or athletic kid in the world, but she plays volleyball and jogs a little if the spirit so moves her. She decided on Monday of last week to do the Paul Bunyan (sprint) Tri in Bemidji MN with her 20-something cousin 5 days later, just to see if she liked it.

Her swim time was fairly respectable, her bike and run, well... she got through it, but she finished. No training, and did the 12 mile road course on her mountain bike with knobby tires.

Don't think I've ever been prouder of my little girl in all of her life.

I caught him just out of T2, and we ran together for a bit. He was hurting bad and just could't get himself to run. Since I was not looking to "compete" at all on this one. I just stuck with him for most of the run. Tried to get him to run more and more. I told him we were running the last mile, no walking. He said ok, but couldn't do it. I looked back after about 1/4mi and he just waved me on. So I ran out the last mile and finished hard.... 3:11:01. Not bad for all that walking!

Thanks! Pigman is going to be a totally different strategy....slow and steady. I went pretty hard on the swim and bike at the Omaha Tri. Gotta slow that down if I'm gonna ride 56mi and "run" 13.....

Sat I did a Xterra Tri. 800meter swim, 5.75mi bike and 2.5mi run. The bike and run were off-road. Bike had over 2000' elevation hike within the 1st 1.2 miles and the run was quite hilly.

Hardest thing I've ever done. Brutal mtn bike ride. I finished but it was intense. last .5mi of the run my legs weren't working much anymore.... However - had a smile on the whole time.....

Lots of climbing on the bike and some serious single track and technical stuff.

Very hard race for me. Now to start training for the Tri Labor Day weekend in MA....
