It's defiantly Poison Oak, the red newer growth and oily leaves are a dead give away.

Those leaves look more like someone or their dog had just pissed on them

Jeez... you guys are quick. I went back and did an edit on the 'fire' comment right after I posted it...too late. Oops.

The shiny is the oil, the droplets are from the water fall on the other side of the fence.

Wood cutting in poison oak

Guess it doesn't bother me... have made 6 truck loads of oak firewood from a BIG tree that fell in a poison oak patch. Haven't gotten blisters etc yet, but have taken precautions:

Used the tree bark and moss that fell off the wood as it's split as a carpet over the poison oak

Washed hands, arms and head with Dawn dish soap (it takes crude oil off sea birds=cuts oils)

Threw clothes into washer at home immediately upon arrival, even work gloves

Shower right away with dish soap

Cross fingers and have a few beers

Five years later I'm sold on Pectin

I used to have to visit urgent care after nearly every dirt bike ride

We rode 6 hours in some of the worst poison oak patches I'd ever seen and never broke out in a visible rash

That night I started on 2 tablespoons of pectin, and then in the morning another dose. That afternoon I felt like I had a slight fever, my eyes were itchy and my skin all over my body itched like crazy but no rash. I took another dose at bed time and another when I awoke and was feeling fine and still no rash

poison oak almost killed my Mom,,

I was forced out of the warm, safe, and dark place I was occupying, for the past nine months or so,,but, somewhere just before that event,,as I recall being told,(sweetsixty may have more info),there was an episode of exploring the wilds of norcal to go,,Flower gathering!

the mother to be,,my mom,,and another stupid woman friend, were picking the "pretty red leaves and branches" to make flower arrangements.
Mom was a Texan,,red leaves looked artsy,,she knew enuff to stay away from a rank horse,,but picked poison oak as a decorative flair,,oops,, fuckup,,
Turns out,, she was super allergic,, face and throat and all that needed breathing stuff, swolt up, and shut down,, to the point of hospitalization,,I, as a newborn, was harbored back at the hospital awaiting Mom's survival,,
My Dad said that by the time Mom was over the oak poisoning, and ready to come home,,,and he want to retreeve me from the baby ward,,,that I already had a job at the hospital, sweeping and mopping floors!

poison oak

Wibby, The Cure is all around you in Grants Pass. When I was a kid my mom called family down in Grants Pass and had them send her a box of wild lilac leaves. She would make a tea from the leaves and then use a cotton ball and swab it wherever us kids had the rash. Wild lilac grows right next to poison oak down there. It works really good on sunburns to.

Is that Ceanothus or what some call California Lilac?
