John Hopkins Injuries

I just read the Road Racer X article on Hopper. I had no idea that his wrist injury (among the many injuries he has had) was basically a career ending injury. Dr Ting even told him that was it. He needed to retire. Hopper found a San Diego doctor to give him another surgury which should allow him to race again (Probably VIR).

Yeah that boy has been beat-up pretty bad. He had a lot of potential coming in. It now appears even if he can convince another doctor to let him race again, he will not be competitive.

If Ting said it was done, it is done. He just risks hurting himself even more, probably somewhere else. Buy a TT truck Hopper and get your kicks.

The article said that Hopper found another surgeon to operate on him. Hopper may very well be back for the VIR AMA weekend.

I can't find the article on line. You will find it in this months Road Racer X magazine. I just got it in the mail a few days ago.

Good article that explains just how hurt John is. I had no idea. Racers go through more injuries than I thought.

Part of me regrets not getting into motorcycle racing as a young man.

Most of me is relieved.

Agreed. It will be interesting to see if Hopper follows or ignores Ting's advice. Ignoring it would be a stupid decision for the future of his health.

I believe the article said that he already had the surgury.

Sad to hear about Hopper. Is there going to be a VIR weekend? Last I heard Big Kahuna pulled out as the title sponsor.

Yes, it's now the "White Lightning Nationals." I haven't yet decided which theme is more stupid. But at least there's a race.

Yeah but whether to ride may not be a done deal, although it sounds like he will.

Thanks Tim, I was too lazy to look it up before I posted! I'm glad there will be a race.

You going to the Barbara Fritchie Classic in Frederick? I may make an appearance if I end up in the area on Sunday.
