Great thread

I'm less than two weeks away from a Norkapp trip and have been enjoying your pics and posts. Can't wait to get on the bike and head to Norway!

I was there one week before, almost the same route to Uvdal.
We have only one day of rain, temperature droped to 3C, wind and heavy rain, I was never so cold in my life. But it's so beautifull (and expensive) ...
Cheers

Back home!

Holidays finished!

This morning Iíve arrived to Basel and Iím working again (well, right now itís my 'lunch time').

What a shock! Yesterday I woke up in Norway and today Iím working in Basel, ugh!!!

When finishing lunch, Iíll quickly go to the parking to take all luggage home (Heidi is still fully loaded!). This morning, when Iíve arrived, Iíve left her in the parking and rushed home to see my cat. Oh my God! How Iíve missed him! Heís doing great, my friends have taken very good care of him!

Looks like the poor thing has suffered a lot due to the heat of the last days and has decided to molt all his fur in one go.
What a pain! The apartment is full of cat furÖ Iíve had been brushing him for one hour and the brush got full of fur every timeÖ Have enough stuff for two pillowsÖ

Letís see if this weekend I can upload more pics and make a summary report of the tripÖ Iíd also like to write the full daily reports (like I did for day 1 and day 2) but not quite sure if Iíll have enough timeÖ (but Iíll try, because this is what I really like doing!)

The day before yesterday I was thinking of going to the Alps this weekend, but today Iíve thought that I better stayed at home and do a bit of work and housekeeping.
Additionally I have pain in my right thumb. Yesterday I trapped it with the door leading to the parking at the hotel in Kristiansand and I think itís getting worse. If it doesnít improve in a couple of days, Iíll go to the doctor (maybe thereís some issue with some small boneÖ).

Yesterday in the night train from Hamburg to LŲrrach I did some calculations:

Heidi and I have done 7.400 Km. together (a bit more maybe).
6.400 of these, in Norway

We should add to this the 1.600 Km done by train through Germany and the countless ferries in Scandinavia (need to check the map, but I guess weíve taken 20 or more!).
According to Heidiís computer, she has drunk an average of 5.2 liters each 100 Km.
She has also drunk 750 ml of motor oil.
But the best is: we havenít fallen down! Zero falls! (we were about to fall down a few times, but we managed to stand!)

After this long trip together, weíve decided that we are made for each other!

Ok, time to go to the parking! As said above, Iíll try to post more things this weekend!

Big hug,

Marta & Heidi.

What a great adventure! Glad to see you managed to visit Finland shortly during your trip as well, although it's obvious that the scenery in the North on this side of the border is nothing compared to those in Norway.

Well, at least our "beware of elks" sign is more spirited (imho).

Be sure to visit Eastern Finland if you ever decide to come to Scandinavia again.

Take care!

Have to admit that I did a VERY short bit of Finland, almost can't say I have been there this trip .

But I was there first time I went to Nordkapp (10 years ago, riding as passenger in a R1150GS). We crossed Finland South to North (Turku-Karigasniemi) and... to be very honest... was a bit boring... and got sick of mosquitos!!! Most probably, our fault. We took the fastest way North, and normally fastest doesn't mean nicest.

The scenery in the north doesn't change much from the picture from the border, apart from the occasional fell and a reindeer herd crossing the road, so there's not much you missed by way of scenery. I'd rather spend the time in Norway as well.

Yeah, the western areas are a bit boring.. all the lakes and hills are here in the East.

But still, they don't compare to the Norwegian fjords and mountains, I guess.

In a couple of weeks I'll be in the States for a business trip (close to NYC). Looking for something to do during the weekend...

You two are one hot mama team, alright!!! Absolutely love that you not only did this solo, but you did it in style. Fearless in tackling the transpo on the train, grabbing so many gorgeous photos for us and never taking a dirt nap. We sure lived this great adventure vicariously.

I so appreciate the time and effort, especially during the ride, to take us along. I will be watching for your next glorious ride report!

Glad your home safe,
Nicole
