Question Who will run second in 2005 MotoGP

Can anyone be seen as a viable threat to Rossi's domination - with all the Team changes and HRC's ongoing problems is anyone a chance?

I'd love it to be Nakano, but the Kawasaki will have to make a leap forward of the same magnitude they made this year.

I think it'll be a close thing between Gibernau and Biaggi again, mostly because of the bikes. I expect Biaggi to get the better parts, but Gibernau is the better rider.

Perhaps Dave - do you see the dust up between Rossi and Gib as having a bad effect on Gib - he seemed a bit sheepish in the final rounds after the problem...

I would like to see Edwards up there. I think he and Rossi have a lot in common as to riding.

I have a feeling it will be Hayden's year, I think he and Biaggi (if Biaggi recovers from his injuries) will be sharing paint and decals for second. Gibernau maybe, but I think his year(s) were this past season and the season before. It would be nice to see Edwards in the mix, but I don't look for him to contend as he now will be working with an entirely different bike. Nakano, doubt it.

This is a good point. I am wondering if Gibernau has lost the heart to compete. He has had two great seasons, and one on obviously the best bike, and still been beaten. I wonder if has the mental strength to come back from this.

I think an aspect of it is that Rossi has such a huge fan base - Comments regarding Gib at the Phillip Island round were not very nice from the average supporter in the crowd - it was a topic and I didnt hear one favourable thing said about Gib in relation to the matter - Be a bit hard knowing the crowd is against you everywhere except Spain IMHO

My heart says 2005 MGP will finish:

1. Nick- Is heathy and stays so. Champ through 3 wins and the most podiums
2. Valentino- Caught out looking other places and ....whatever
3. Shinya- Emerges with the 'tire' and 4 wins
4. Troy- 1 win and keeps the wheels in line aboard a Japanese bike
5. Colin- 1 win and a couple other podiums. No DNF's.

But you asked who we expect to be #2 behind Vale....
Shinya- Stones are fast from round 1. Three wins for the coming champ
