Pennsylvania is out of my jurisdiction though

I am enjoying your report- your photography is amazing!
We will be doing a 1 day ride in early September from Just south of Utica to Watertown- I would like to route through the Adirondacks- looking for paved and maintained dirt roads- do you have any suggestions? Planning for it to be a full of riding. Thanks.

Hey Joe,

Hope that you've been having a good summer. Man it's been hot down here in Westchester! My bike hasn't gotten much use this last month but September is coming and I usually get some nice riding in that time of year and hope to get up your way for a few days. We've taken a few trips up to Saratoga in the truck, I really do love the track up there.

Unfortunately it seems the Queensbury job was pulled due to budget constraints, but we're still house hunting in the area and may try to relocate anyway. I'm not really sure if that will happen, it's tough for her to leave a job she knows is solid for a hope that something else will work out. We may just end up stuck down here for awhile longer.

Well my 2012 Northeast Adventure in New Hampshire was a success as we had over 30 attendees

For 2013 I am going to make it in the North Adirondacks I hope

I try to put together a ride of about 250 miles with some dirt ROADS that can easily be ridden by
biggish adventure bikes ,,,,not trails or dual sports.....

So I could use anyones help if the know of either a very good paved or a passable dirt road that connects at both ends

PLEASE post or if nervous PM me

I am going to pre ride some of this in October

all help or participation is really appreciated

The Promise Part 1

The Promise Part 1

“The woods are lovely, dark and deep……

....but I have promises to keep…….

….and miles to go before I sleep.”
- Robert Frost

it all began one Friday afternoon as I walked into our local coffee house (no, not Starbucks) to grab some caffeine. I noticed a former client sitting all alone staring at a small gift wrapped package on his table with an expression that alternated between sadness and despair.

Catching my eye he waved me over to join him and as he is one of the nicest people it has ever been my pleasure to meet I went over and sat down.

As it turned out during the course of our conversation the item in question was a wedding gift for one of his wife’s best friend’s wedding which was to take place at one p.m. the next day. It further turned out that he had persuaded bribed his wife to skip the wedding and instead spend a few days in Cape Cod. The only stipulation on her part being they send a proper gift for the occasion.

New found admiration bloomed in my eyes as I congratulated him for such a brilliant and somewhat diabolical plan executed so flawlessly

It wasn’t that hard he confided, we’ve been to her first 3 weddings and as I pointed out if history is any guide we’ll be at the next 3 too.

But … I fucked up and now it looks like I’m screwed.

The problem was three fold, the wedding was the next day and he, being charged with shipping the gift had forgotten to stop at fedex and now it was too late and thus when he informed his wife of his misdeed, she being a stickler for protocol and proper social graces would demand they go which would necessarily void the cape cod trip as they were scheduled to leave at 6:00 am the next morning.

Where’s the wedding? I innocently asked

The Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe

Almost immediately I said, I can deliver that for you.

I say almost immediately because I don’t want anyone to think I’m entirely altruistic nor do I want you to think I was sucking up to a former client.

What immediately flashed through my mind before I uttered those words was – Stowe, Saturday, Vermont, world class twisties, mountain roads, gorgeous scenery, and above all the fabled Vt. Route 100 . Add this to the fact I had been planning this ride for some time and had my route mapped out made this a no brainer.

Seriously ?,he asked with new found hope lighting his face

I promise.

And if the weather later that evening was any indication of tomorrows forecast…

It would indeed be a fine day

Ah yes, MotoEx, when it absolutely, positively has to be there eventually.

The Promise Part 2

The Promise Part 2

I had planned to off as the sun was rising and make fast tracks to the slab for a run North where I would pick uo state routes and get to the vermont border by 6:30 a.m.

But when i saw what the morning brought..........

All plans of a fast run were off and I quickly lost all sense of Time and Space as I navigated back roads through the tangerine stained radiance of the early morning mist reminiscent of an impressionist painting
