Great shots as always Joe, I hope Spring gets you back out on the road soon for more. These Photos are like crack, I just can't get enough of them!

Wow they have done a lot of work around the furnace at Tahawus since just a year or two ago, that is nuts.

I am also amazed to see how spring-like everything looks down there. I still have snow pack on large swaths of my property (it is 79.9*F here today though so it may be the last day)

Thanks again for the pics, keep on keepin' on

Hi Joe,

Really happy to come across your posts.
I did a wonderful camping trip with the wife last summer covering northern VT and the the Adirondacks.
We already reserved a spot on (now our) favorite state campground in the ADK for this coming July. Can't wait to get on the road again!
Hope you don't mind me sharing a few pictures.
A sunset by the campground:

Nearby trail leads to here:

I wonder if they will attempt to maintain the furnace itself, I would imagine, the weeds and trees growing on it will wreak havoc in a very short time

I've been lazy and procrastinating , so much so in fact I haven't even gone for a ride, until yesterday.

My niece suggested a bunch of us meet for donuts and coffee. Coffee I love, doughnuts not as much

The place suggested was one I've passed numerous times on rides to Vermont but never stopped - Kings Doughnut Cart in Cambridge NY

Go here, seriously, this is doughnuts taken to an art form.
Right on the main drag
Bring your own coffee though, there.s a couple places for that right up the street

And They went so fast I forgot to take a picture.

Sundays only 8 am till noon or until they run out

I've enjoyed reading threw your thread and got some ideas for some roads to travel on. I am heading down that with a couple friends on May 16. We are going to stay in Lake George. Any roads we MUST ride? I am trying to plan about a 300 mile loop for an easy relaxing day with lots of time to stop and take in the sights! I have a route that heads up to lake placid via route 73 then up to Lake champlain to head south down the island route 2 and then continuing south back to Lake George for about 300 miles. Am I missing out on the best roads though?

We are coming from up north in Canada and will hit 8 and 28 on the way there and back.

The winter has left many areas of poor surfaces and there is still a bit of sand in places. Be careful and ride safe!

If I might suggest...

A slightly different approach route from Lake George to Odessa Ontario.
The 1000 Islands Bridge crossing is very busy.
The Ogdensburg-Johnstown crossing is much quicker/easier and still picturesque.

Hwy 2 along the north shore of the St Lawrence is nice, also the 1000 Islands Parkway.
I added a detour if you wish to avoid the stop and go traffic of Kingston.
