Hi Joe
As a regular reader of Ride Reports, I have seen countless pictures of stunning quality. However, Lake on Fire is now my new favorite. Gonna be hard for anyone to beat that one.
Note to self:Go buy a Canon S90 this weekend. OP

A visit with Max
A visit with Max most always costs me money, of course the Max I refer to is Max BMW and this particular visit was for the 6,000 mile run in. And sadly the stock battlewings have just about run their course
Let me back up a bit and review my maintenence history:600 mile service done with 714 miles in the clock. I'm fanatical about changing the oil every 3,000 miles so the 2nd oil change was done at 3,726 And since I'm equally fanatical about getting my moneys worth I had anticipated having a touch over 6,700 miles by the time I pulled in, however plans had been altered and a planned ride never happened. So I took off a bit before 6:00 am to put as many miles as I could before my 9:00 am appointment It started out cool and the dampness near the river created an eerie blue sunrise ![]() It's hard to believe that a few trees have already attained their fall colors and are dropping their leaves ![]() Moving out of the river valley and a few clicks to the west the morning took on new more cheerful tones ![]() Then it was a straight run to the super slab to rack up the miles in a northward direction

You continue with your magic eye's! Our tree's are dropping leaves without the color change. I can't begin to imagine what you'll do with the season of fall.

Amazing pics. I went up this summer to Lake George, did a loop to Placid, across the ferry to Burlington. Next day was Smugglers Gap and Stowe at the recommendation of a friend - I didnt get any pics of the gap, you wouldnt happen to have any, would you? That was some amazing riding up there. Beautiful area. Your pics bring it out amazingly.

I started this report out with a trip to Lake Placid that ended up being changed to a ride with a friend.
I did go there, not once but twice so far with 1 more trip planned for the peak color so I guess now is the time to tell the tales of my journeys there. Yesterday was the second trip and any of you in the North East know that we had a Perfect day weatherwise, in fact if we had those year round I would find no reason to complain about the weather. it was 42 when i started out and by the afternoon it was in the low 70's, what more could one ask for I.m uploading the pics this afternoon and the report will commence. in the meantime my first stop before hitiing the slab to make some time was to watch the Morning Gallops ![]()

The Philosophers Truck
How many times do we look at something but don't really "see" it? I've passed by an old truck with a for sale sign on it many times on my way North and though I gave it a brief glance and it registered in my mind I never really "saw" it until one day for no apparent reason the thought came to pull over and check it out.
This is how it appears at a glance. ![]() Nothing special unless you're in to old trucks which I'm not. However when I took the time to really "see" it I immediately thought of it as "The Philoshopers Truck". First of all I found it had a name and like all of us both it and its owner are.... ![]() It begins by by asking us a simple question - When was the last time you.. and then invites us to " Try one today, Free Yourself" ![]() And this naturally begs the question.. How do you free yourself? And not to leave us hanging it offers some advice. For starters - Why, what are you waiting for, who cares what they think make yourself feel better ![]() So I ask you all as I asked myself that day. When was the last time you... ![]() or.. ![]() or.. ![]() and do you dare to ,,, ![]() or even... ![]() Or even as I strive to... ![]() or even... ![]() I noticed last Saturday when I was returning from Lake Placid Edgur was no longer there and it suddenly seemed as if an old and dear friend had departed my life. I'm grateful for that little voice that told me to pull over that day and "see: Edgur for what he really is. I spent probably 45 minutes they and they truly were magic. And this one phrase sums up all we really need to know, take to heart and Believe... ![]() And this is the last shot befor leaving.. ![]() So there we have the sage advice of Edgur, I'll miss him but his advice will always resonate with me. And the next time you pass something that you wouldn't ordinarily give a second thought to, stop and "see" it , you may be as delighted as I was. I did take more pics and if anyone wants to see the rest it will definetely be time well spent,,,, Just look here

Take your time and do it right ~ if you haven't already been to either, hit Zack's in Hudson Falls and Dirty John's in Glens Falls and do your own taste test. I prefer Dirty John's but have to admit that Zacks is second by only the slightest of margins.

My preferred route to the high peaks area is Rte 9n and Rte 73 which offer great twisties, world class views and some classic Adirondack lakes and small towns, most notably Schroon Lake and in the town of Chester Loon Lake.
There are also some areas where it seems that their best days have passed long ago, but these are areas I'll cover later. For now I'll start here where you pick up rte 73 ![]() Where you begin.... ![]() A couple hundred feet up the road I stopped for lunch at .... ![]() ![]() And these are the lovely ladies who run Big Mamas, I've forgotten their names but I do remember what delightful people they are, good burger and fries if anyone is up that way it's well worth stopping. ![]() and these are just a few of the sights from the road.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
