$40 of the fee will go to charity and support the adv riding community.

please do not call PSR to make your own arrangement! if you're moteling, you must register and pay me by paypal first, then i will give you the code to pay for your motel room.

we are renting the entire resort and paying for all sites regardless it's occupied or not. better this way since we don't want neighbors in the campground that may not like our activities, not that we will be wild or create trouble, we just don't need any conflict. likewise, i'm not also comfortable seeing strangers wandering and looking around while we're all riding.

RV FULL HOOK UP
#1 gregg (mr. g) + carrie - (paid)
#2 frank (stucazzo) + gianni + tino + nico + jenn (paid)
#3 matt (mjgs) + robin (paid)
#4 noel (dunerat) + val - (paid)
#5 doug (elifino) + anne + kyle + sarah - (paid)
#6 mike (shunka) + terry + daughter - (paid)
#7 joe (coarsegold) + cornellis - (paid)
#8 20 eric (yzlvr) + mark - (paid)
#9 tony (cranky tony) + marge - (paid)
#10 john (damoose) + janet - (paid)
#11 don (beatsworking) + elizabeth - (paid)
#12 jim (spartan) + maury (XRDV8) - (paid)

sorry, i don't have time to contact each one of you.

many are still confused how to pay. here's how you do it.

1. read post #3 and if you agree, then go to your paypal account.

2. put the appropriate amount to advsprinter at gmail dot com.

3. in the "MESSAGE BOX", write the following info.

name + adv name + accomodation code (ex. MC or TR or BT, or CP, etc.) + dinner code (D2 or D3)

if you're paying for your guest, on the next line do the same.

guest name + adv name (if non, call it your own adv name - guest) + accomodation code (CP) + dinner code (D2 or D3)

4. then, cut and paste the following (including linky):

I READ AND AGREED TO POST #2 (11/02/2014)

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showp...91&postcount=2

5. click the send button.

6. wait for confirmation on your email, otherwise, you have to do it again.

easy enough that you don't have to call or PM me.

please do not request a campsite # when you pay. post up on the thread so ersin could pick it up.

PSR has a new policy. for an event like this, we are obligated to pay the full amount before Feb. 1, 2015. they have been turning away guests on the week we will be there and it's an income they're banking on.

all payments must be in by January 1st for all peeps up to #220. if you could not pay, we'll just move you to the end of the list and give those people on the waiting list your spot.

before you send $ please read post #2 and 3 (payment instructions).

if you see a refund, it means you have missing info on your paypal account. do not PM me and ask why.

and if you have dibs, we will hold your spots until Nov. 23rd. if you need more time, just give up your dib.

those on the waiting list up to #220, you too could start paying. ersin took all the motel and rv people off the list on post #4.

looking forward to see you all.

Weather update; bike related questions; riding & camping gear…

Hello guys & gals! It is very important that each rider be prepared to ride in this vast desert better known as Death Valley National Park. Don't be "that guy/gal" who gets a flat and does not have inner tubes or a tool-kit for their bike.

At a minimum each rider should be prepared for a front and/or rear flat tire.

Each rider is required to pack at a minimum:

- Tools to remove both the front AND rear axles
- Spare front & rear tube, including rim strips front & rear
- An air source such as an electric pump, hand pump, CO2 cartridges
- At least 2L of drinking water

If you aren't experienced at changing your bike's tires yet no worries. make friends with someone in your group who does.

The DVNR (DV NooB Rally) is a great meet & greet. Many new relationships are started here so please, if you see someone you do not know or recognize, introduce yourself.

Please take the time to read the useful information below in the "tool kit thread".

WEATHER @ PANAMINT SPRINGS (STOVEPIPE WELLS)
http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick...2#.VFcLfzTF8g0

PSR has limited public wi-fi, please try not to use it for personal or social stuff during the rally. if you do, make it short. just imagine 200+ people are checking their email messages.

PSR ended up putting a password and might do it again this time.

there's a ATT cell service about 5-10 miles from PSR. ride up on 190 go east and near the top of the hill, you'll get good cell service.

there's also some signals on panamint springs road between ballarat and PSR.

A great place to learn about all the roads available to ride in Death Valley can be found here:

A good PDF copy of the Death Valley National Park map:

For a good one to buy and carry with you, look for the National Geographic version:

----------------------------------

Panamint Springs Resort operates completely off grid, which means we do not have access to public utilities. All of our electricity is produced by a diesel generator that runs 24 hours per day. There are also no phone lines here so our only phone is made possible by a triangulation of a digital cellular signal from miles away. Our water comes from Darwin Falls. It is piped 5 miles to Panamint Springs Resort where we treat the water and distribute it throughout the property. Our internet is via satellite provider.

Do you have internet access?

We are pleased to be able to provide complimentary internet for the purpose of sending brief messages to your family and friends to let them know you are safe. The internet connection here is provided by satellite and as such, is extremely limited in the speed and amount of bandwidth allowed. This is, unfortunately, beyond the control of Panamint Springs Resort.

This is a highly shared network, and for the sake of others, we request you respect the needs of others to send safe arrival messages to their families. By not using the network access for the prohibited applications, everyone will be able to use the connections effectively. If the network is abused, service may be lost for up to 24 hours. Therefore please do not rely on the internet service at Panamint Springs.

Due to the bandwidth limitation, we ask that before connecting to the network, you disable any auto-updating of your laptop or smart phone.

Please refrain from using any application that uploads or downloads large amounts of data such as:

Netflix of other video streaming
Skype, FaceTime or other video conferencing
Pandora or other internet radio or music
YouTube or other multi-media sharing sites
Photobucket, Flikr, or other photo sites
Web pages that contain a high content of graphics or photos

-----------------------------------

Is there digital cell phone service in Death Valley National Park?

Digital cell service is very limited in Death Valley National Park. There is cell service at Furnace Creek and a few other specific locations, depending on your provider. There is no digital cellular service at Panamint Springs Resort.

Is there a payphone at Panamint Springs Resort?

Since Panamint Springs Resort is completely off-grid, we do not have land lines. Our only phone is our reservation line. This is only available for emergencies and is $2.50 per minute with a $5 connection fee. Our phone is not always reliable, so there may not be service when you need it.

INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCE GROUP RIDES

http://ridelist.robgapps.com/index.c...nt=event.index

Okay, ride sign up site is working. It is hosted up on a old server so if it goes down or fails let me know and we'll contact the author and get it going again.

Rides need to be for the new event for 2015. If you put rides on the old event you'll need to enter them on the new one.
And you need to create a user account and 'join' an event in order to sign up for a ride. You also need to agree to the liability waiver that is built in.

Let me know if you have any troubles.

NOTE: I figured to wait 'till at least after the first of the year to setup group rides that are anything but noob road rides - that's what Headstaller is organizing, along with the Jimmy Lewis Class.

We'll want to identify some ride leaders and take stock of conditions, then setup rides for attendees to go out on.
