Yes this was a project.
Months and months of planning and preparing both the bike and myself for this ride.
A lot of planning but it is a great feeling when the plan works.

That was an incredible ride. Kudos to you, sir!

I did my first SS1K on a Vulcan 900. Reading this report makes me want to buy another cruiser....but the wife'll kill me..

Congratulations on an excellent ride. I am planning to do the 48 Plus this year in June. I'm sure it will be an adventure of a lifetime.

So how many hours per day did you average on the bike?

Come up with any ideas on places you might want to "See" again?

I updated the hours ridden each day at the end of the story.
I also added the number of states for each day.

How did your steed hold up under all that punishment? Did you encouter any unpaved roads or tricky riding on your quest?

No problems with the bike. Just the broken headlight in Texas.
The roads were great. No unpaved roads until I crossed the border into Alaska.
