Eakins, I have a question for you.

Is there any issue with someone making GPS routes or tracks of Butler Maps' best roads, and distributing the files, as long as the Butler name is not used?

A huge thank you for asking 1st!

Because of the large expense involved in gathering the data, we can't allow distribution by others of our patented system. We are however working on smartphone app with these routes plus a Garmin GPS map.

I've been meaning to pop in and say what a huge help having the CO map was (and Steve's book, too) for our CO trip a few months ago. It was great. Only complaint was we found a lot of ATV/dirt bike/UTV/Jeep trails clearly marked while riding that had no mention in the map... would have been cool to at least know these areas were there. But otherwise, it was fantastic.

Eakins, if you guys ever decide to do a North GA one, hit me up. I've guided 100+ rider tours through the top part of the state, be happy to show you guys some stuff to include.

Our state maps are primarily paved road maps with a rating system that shows where the best paved roads are located. That is our focus and what we do. On our version 2 reprint, I had a working budget to add 40 recommended easy dirt roads & 40 dirt connector roads for our best paved roads. That is what is on the map.

These roads would be suitable for loaded ADV bikes, thus easier roads. It was never meant to be a dirtbike map nor show every road. I'd love that but the map would be so cluttered & unreadable.

For our V3 of the map (a long time from now) I will have a budget to add more dirt roads, but they will still be easier dirt roads. We use Benchmark Maps as our base maps, so i suggest you also bring one too as it has much more detail

Anyone ordering a butler map for the blue ridge be aware it cuts off at Asheville. Very disapointing.

I wasn't aware that they had one for the Blue Ridge... Does it cut off north or south of Asheville? If it cuts off south of Asheville, I'd like to buy all their maps as a thank you. Lots of roads in there shouldn't be found on a map.

We do not offer a map of that area, yet. You must have another map.
We will be offering a map of that area in the future.

Maps, of course, do have cut-off areas because of size constraints.
Our So Cal map is an example. We could not put all of California on 1 map and thus had to choose a cut-off point.
There is no way around this. When we release our Nor Cal map we will provide an overlap area instead of a hard cut-off to each map, similar to how Benchmark maps does this for their state atlases. This feature will exist when when we map the East Coast with several regional maps.

I had my trip to Ohio (via Nashville, TN) planned when I got my Ozark map. Did some mods to the route based on the map and I must say the routes were great, as advertised! Thanks, again.
