Yankee Doodle, Battle Flat, and Crown King
Met up with goner and Jaybiker yesterday to do some riding in the cooler altitudes of the Bradshaw Mountains north of Phoenix.
goner - Yamaha WR450 Jaybiker - KTM 525 Nightstalker - Honda 450X Saw some javelina between Poland Junction and Breezy Pines on the way to staging. My regular riding buddy Javalina is currently on a 20 day ride to Alaska and back.  Getting ready.  Goner led us down an awesome jeep road to the start of Yankee Doodle.

Start of upper Yankee Doodle, 3 1/2 miles south to north. It would take us 90 minutes to reach Poland Road.
 Goner riding blue, Jaybiker on orange.

It was 92 degrees when I left Phoenix at 6:00AM. I don't know what the temp was here, but it sure felt hot in the sun!
  Uphill, steep uphill, in the distance.  Lots of drops and rocks too!

Taking a break in the shade. Ohh the trail was so tight in places!!
 Goner got stuck at the top of this long hill.  I managed to squeeze by him, with minimal contact.  Jaybiker finishes Yankee Doodle off!

We blasted through Battle Flat and BOOM, we were on Peck Mine Road.
 Goner had a bad crash! He's OK!  Goner running strong. Front way to Crown King switch backs in the distance.  Jaybiker descends past Swastika Mine.

After Crown King, we took a spin up to Towers Mountain to check out the long, cool view at 7625 feet.
 Vintage fire tower.  View from above.  Ladybugs were attacking this fallen tree in full force.

We followed Senator Highway and retraced our route back to the trucks. 76 mile ride in Arizona in July!! AWESOME!!

Thanks for the invite on the ride guys I had a great time. Here are some pics I took.
Goner and Nightstalker off in the distance. Can you see the trail?   Sure was a rocky trail  Taking a brake. This was the only spot we stopped that was nice and shaded. Wasn't too hot hear.  Nighstalker playing in some rocks  Goner checking for what the squeak was while we are having lunch in Crown King  On top of CK these lady bugs covered the plants and fallen log   We just missed some hard rain  Nightstalker given a salute to Arizona Trail Riders. Thanks guys.
