As with everything 'it depends'....
I recall reading a pretty good thread on this subject over on race-dezert.com, I'll try to dig up the link when I have a minute.
You can also look at the classifieds section on the same site, there are a few used TTs and Class 1s for sale ranging from 100-300K depending on age/use, spares, extras, etc...

Suspension could easily be $10,000 per corner....most likely higher. I know that a Bowler Nemesis which is a Land Rover derived tube frame dakar racer costs somewhere in the $300,000 to $400,000 range. I would bet a brand new trophy truck is between $300k and $500K.

While watching the Mint 400 in Southern Nevada on TV one of the announcers said the top trucks were around $800,000.

I think the cost also depends on whether or not you want the additional bike/quad scoopers added to the front...

I had heard some figures like this but wanted to see what the truth really was.

Expensive race machines. No doubt

About what I would figure. These boys that run this stuff have some serious money.

Give me an XR 650r and some dessert roads and I will be happy.

I'd love to go on one of the sand rail tours some day to fullfill my curiosity at this type of racing.

Having been on Trophy Truck teams since the class started, I have to say it depends on who built it. I've seen as cheep as $500k to build and and high as $2mil. Cost per corner also depends on if you build your own shock or if you buy Fox or Kings. Now that privateer teams race Trophy Trucks, budgets actually play a big role in how the "Truck" is built & prepped. Are you rebuilding your shocks in-house or sending them out after every race? Huge difference between "freshening up" a motor and re-building it. Who does your motors and who does your trannys are big cost factors also. Do you do a complete tear down after every race or do you just do a "race prep"? The race truck alone is not the big cost, how about how many spares and how many chase trucks full of spares do you run? Food and lodging for around 40 people ain't cheep either. Leon Patton motors get around 2.5 mpg and lets see VP C-12 costs how much a gallon? It easily costs about a million a year to campaign a competitive Trophy Truck.
