Wow Alcan Rider, those pics are awesome! It was your pics like those that made me want to do the ride this spring! A few humble entries from my one and only trip up and back.

Sure, why not. Other riders get to see the same scenes I do, just not always at the same time, or with the same light.

The toughest part of the Dalton seems to be where they are doing road construction. Otherwise it was in good shape (not that I have a reference point).

Thanks for posting those. You've got some really great photos there. The ones you shot into the sun are particular favorites of mine, like this one -


But the evening shadows in this one are really beautiful too -

AlcanRider, I very much appreciate you sharing your pictures with us, they are excellent.

I rode the Dalton only once in my life, one month ago, and I am still deeply impressed. I will come back to do some hiking in the Brooks Range and on the North Slope. This place is like a dream, it is pure heaven. I love it.

Thank you. I know what you mean about the area. After my first trip all the way to Deadhorse I decided that I had to go back and just camp along the Haul Road for about a month to experience it fully. Haven't done that yet, at least not all at once, but have probably spent over a month total with all the various trips up and down the highway. And I find myself wanting to get back up there again, right now, to just enjoy the remoteness and the solitude... and the beauty. Even in nasty, windy, rainy conditions, I like it. But it's a lot easier to take good photos when the weather is nice.
