Crf230l problems

Hey I'm looking to buy a 2008 crf230l today it's in good condition and have about 4500miles on it. I talked to my cousin that used to race and he said honda at the races would always have valve problems would it be the same with a bike like this. Also has anyone ever had problems with having only electric start

No way this is a reliable simple motor old xr proven design (xr200), two valve bike with easy screw type valve adjustments. These bikes can go many many miles before a rebuild seen some with 20k+ and 30k and still going. Maybe he's referring to higher end race bikes I don't know but crf230l and crf230f are about as simple and reliable as it gets for a Honda.

5.5k on the clock, running strong. no valve issues and its seen WORK. personally, I'd look at other 250's first, if thats your desired size. Great bike, gets the job done, but there are better options. whats asking price?

My kid has a crf230f which i believe has the same valve train as the 230l.The bike is bullet proof. Valves hardly ever need ajustment. He beats the snot out of the poor little thing and never a problem.

Inmate Pigryder has 22000+ miles on one owned since new, just regular stuff tires oil valve checks etc. I got about 9000 miles on my M commute 70miles to work 1 way 2-3 times a week. I don't know what valve issues are with simple screw and tappet adjustments every 4000 miles, but probably the exception and not the rule.

What he said….

Bought my wife the 230L new in 08 as soon as they hit the showroom floor. Reliable is an understatement, she currently has 23,000 miles on the bike and other than oil change every 2k, valve check bout every 6k and maybe adjusted twice since the original adjustment after break in. Bike still gets 85mpg and she runs it hard, doesn't burn oil, doesn't leak oil, and Ive always used castrol 10w40, or 20w50 in the summer. These bikes have zero issues, the bike itself has zero issues other than whats brought on by either neglect or abuse.
