Thumb T.A.T. and back on $40.00 a day

I will be setting out from Cleveland, Ohio on my trusty XR650L to ride the Trans America Trail within the next few days.

The goal is to ride my 02' XR650L along the entire length of the T.A.T., then turn around and ride black top all the way back to Ohio.
The return route is loosely planned and will be determined based on how I feel and what I decide to stop and see along the way.
My time frame is four weeks with a budget of $40.00 a day.

A big thanks goes out to Geauga Power Sports for sponsoring me with the gear and parts I needed to make this adventure a reality.
without their advice and help I still would be lost in the planning stage!

I'll be posting photos and updating this thread every chance
i get while I'm in the road!

In.

What's your luggage setup? From your pic, it looks like you're sporting the tail rack and side racks from losi3030 on ebay.

Looks like it going to be a fun run. Looking forward to your posts and observations of what you see and do along the way.

Stu, you better be stopping in to say hello and let us snap some pics on your way out of town!

We'll also be helping Stu keep the thread updated via text message, Mexican donkey, telegraph, carrier pigeon, whatever works where there is no interweb for him.

Go Stu go!

If you don't mind, please elaborate on how you are going to break $40 a day. What expenses are you accounting ?

Update

Stewart's departure was delayed by a few days, and yesterday he came out on a ride to say goodby, then headed south late in the afternoon. He overnighted in east central Ohio, and I believe he is headed out of Ohio today.

First off, I really like Stuswho. May be I'm trying to relive my youth, or perhaps he just needs a helping hand.

Any how. He starts his trip by riding due East (not the right way) to meet up with an ADV ride having lunch on the Ohio / Pennsylvania State line.

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...0#post13432640

He then leads me and "L" west on the same trail that we had traveled earlier. His pace was quick, before I knew it we found ourselves in the bottom of a deep ravine. Stuswho jumped a mud pit and roosted up a vertical trail leading up and out of the ravine. It was a dry dirt hill climb with roots and sharp turns while fully loaded for his trip.

After riding the dirt trail to it's western end, we broke for home via. pavement with Stuswho in tow as he needed to go south west as well.

We stopped at Newton Falls for a photo.

We filled up the bikes upon returning to our little town. I noticed that he had used two tie downs and asked if he could use more. We rode to my house and secured the straps to his bike. Have a paper map? Nope. Dug one out for him. Where are you going to eat tonight? Don't know.

Mrs. Scoot pulled out a killer meal in 20 minutes. Yes, she is wonderful!!!

Spinach Salad with eggs, tomatoes, bacon, croutons with crumbled danish blue cheese
Noodles with butter and herbs
Marinated Bourbon Beef Kabobs from the grille

See you next month and have a great trip!
