Any Reno-Tahoe-Carson Valley dualsport riders want to meet up? - Page 11

Hi Guys,

A couple of us from San Francisco/San Rafael are heading over Sonora Pass tomorrow to see what things look like around Bridgeport ...

We'll be on a KTM 450 and a Barbie KLR ...

Going to try to camp/park the truck off Masonic Road or Aurora Cnyn per this thread:

I know there was a winter storm 10/4 and Tiaoga and Sonora Passes were closed due to snow and Manmouth Lakes had 6 - 10" ...

We may be trying Rhino Burger ... or Walker Berger ... on Thursday ...

Should be up there tomorrow (Weds, 10/13) afternoon ... see how much snow we see ... ha. Makes me nervous that there hasn't been any posts on this thread recently ...

Oh don't worry, we're still here...

The weather should be nice with snow only at extreme elevations. I rode the 950 up over Ebbets (Hwy 4) last weekend up to 8000', no snow on the road or near it.

Didn't have much time sunday, but took a small trip up west of Carson to the Hobart Lake parking lot and area, lotsa fun.

Hi all,

We had a great day and a half of riding on Weds. and Thursday ... no snow over Sonora Pass and the snow line is up above 10,000 feet ...

Great aspen grove displays, too ...

The view west from the saddle just north of Potato Peak ...

Rode past the Flying M Ranch and found the old mine of Pine Grove ...

Very pretty aspen groves in the Sweetwater Mountains ...

My 450 is back on the road after a Chris Blais re-build.

No snow on the Pine Nuts yet. "who's up for a ride?

Man I always find these threads late, but I was back off the end of Pinenut Rd. Sunday, rode over to Smith Valley, and on to Wabuska, then back around over by Stagecoach, and on to Johnson Lane. I actually startd a thread looking for riders in this area to link up with. So let me know when somebody is heading out and I will be more than happy to come along. KdxKAWboy has actually offfered to link up, but it never fails, I try to plan too far in advance and something comes up. So send me a PM the night before a ride, and I will make it. I check my messages everyday, so I will get it. Thanks, Ben

I downloaded our tracks from today over the loop I was talking about. Guess what? It shows two different singletrack trails dropping off right frigin there. One that looks like it is behind that first tower we stopped at. Where we walked down the hill. Second one is at the last tower where we started down the canyon and turned around. I'm going to go back up there this week and look around again.

Going in today. Probably start about 1pm. Parking on Pine nut rd at "One tree" parking area. Heading up Lone Pine canyon and the tracks stay to the South of that old mining area we came out by. Then they come in to the South of the antennas. I will through a roost up at every corner

. Easy tracking if need be. Got the spot going to my wifes cell but couldn't get yours to work. Call ya when I get out. Or I'm Mountain lion food.

I tried that one and it wouldn't take it. I must need to do it a couple times. It took my wife's number but didn't send a signal when I hit the ok button. I use the tracker option always. I read up on the directions on-line on the new one's today. Always a good idea

. The new ones will track and send a message at the same time. I need to read my old directions to see if that works on my old one. I will send you a pm with my shared page. You can see the basic route.

The new 'Bar-6' is about 5,200' elevation. We recieved a total of 6" of the white stuff over the weekend.

Anyone up for a run up and over the Pinenuts over Thanksgiving w-end, let us know!
