By Gawn to Bodie, Saturday August 25th

211john,

On a scale of 1-5, 5 being for trials bikes, Saturday is a three, with a tiny bit of 4 sprinkled in (downhill). We took a noob through there last year on an brand spankin' new 800 GS, and he did fine. I'll be on my 950A, it no biggie... We will also have experienced riders along in case help is needed.

I have taken it down a few roads that I would do in low range with my truck. It handles rocks and ruts pretty well.

Does anyone go to PJ and & Co. Bike Night in Reno?
It's pretty close to my new place and I may check it out.
Seems like a Harley crowd.

There is definitely a lot of Harleys, but there is also a good showing of other bikes as well. I've had fun whenever I have gone, from my experience it is a good crowd.

Great ride today, thanks George. Very scenic, some pretty nice water crossings and not too dusty.

Calling Carson City... come in do you read me?

Help!!! this frazzled Yankee needs some vacation advice. Would I be pushing the 'vacation envelope' to think I could do some spring skiing in Heavenly Valley for a few days...then rent a dual-sport for a day, ride up some dirt road to a mountian top the next day? Now that's what I would call a vacation.
Does Carson City have any reasonable places to stay, I'm guessing Heavenly is about 20 miles or so, I don't mind the drive etc. more chance to see the sites and stuff.
I'm thinking March or April would be a good time.
Well, thanks in advance and enjoy the sunny weather!

Heavenly closes Easter week-end. Plan late March. Really depends on the Winter. Carson to Heavenly is about 35mi. Check in to Gardnerville also. Carson valley Inn seems popular. It's closer. You can go up the backside(St Rt 207 Kingsbury grade) to Heavenly Nevada side. Most likely be some snow drifts that will make the tall peak impossible to get to but fun to try. How much you paying I'm three minutes from Heavenly parking lot.
