When is the riding season over in the Carson valley, Gardnerville area? Year around? Something is a foot on my end that makes me wonder.

Riding Season

Hey Cory,

You can ride all year, depending on your hardiness. The only limiting factors are snow and cold, most of the valleys and desert areas are rideable even after a light snow...higher elevations are pretty much out; usually from November until spring. Cold is what shuts me down most often, if it gets down into the low twenties or teens I just don't have the huevos to go out in it for any length of time on a bike. During the dead of winter the only sunlight my bike sees is in the afternoon when it gets a chance to warm up a bit.

Robbie

Thanks Robbie. The cold I think will put a damper on it for me as well but I thought I would ask you local guys. Thanks

My wife and I arrived two weeks ago. My bikes are still in AK., I'll be bringing a couple down in Nov.
I still need to buy more dirt oriented gear, currently all I have is my Aerostich Darien. I'll be up for easy dirt rides until then.

I'm almost always up for any road ride.

I was talking to a guy yesterday and he said the riding season was over

What? I'm used to riding all year round but then I just moved here 6 weeks ago from LA.
I dont know shit locally, but I'm going to try and ride all winter at least in the desert to the south east.

Been hearing various reports about winter riding, just have to wait and see for myself.
Put me on the winter list!

BTW, Anyone up for a half day ride tomorrow Sunday?
Thinking about and easy ride out of Verdi and looping around Stampede res. and maybe up or down Dog Valley Rd.

Fire road and two track mostly, maybe some rocks for a bit of fun.
I'd be on the 990. 9a be back in Reno around 1p

I think the best way to get there is take Lockwood exit and go till you get to the gate of the cement mine and go right on the dirt road there. Then you will have to go SW then southeast, follow roads on the map to get there. Never been there, but now you have my interest piqued... gonna have to try it!
I take that route home from work some times since I work down the canyon a way and live down south of town, so going over the hills that way home is fun.
