They are at 9,800 ft. When it is 100 in Reno it is in the 70s at Virginia Lakes. Great place to stage in August.

Who is up for a ride this coming Saturday? I got a hall pass and would like to test out my new suspension on my F800GS.

So something big bike friendly. I know a few trails but willing to lean more. I'm in Reno but will ride to wherever.

let me know.....

I'm up for a ride Saturday. I can come up to the Reno area, or I have a route that should be big bike friendly that goes from the Pine Nuts to Smith Valley to the Antelope Valley, to the east Fork of the Walker and then on over the Masonic-Bodie Stage Road. All jeep road, has some sections where the embedded rocks make for a bumpy ride.

Looks like it's gonna be a family day for me, so no go. If it changes, (and it could) I'd be in.

We can meet in Carson at the BLM Office and take Brunswick Canyon to Sunrise Pass. It would be an close to an all day ride, but has the advantage that we can bail out at almost any point to make a high speed run back up 395. We could also consider stopping off at Walker Burger for lunch, or on the way back in at the end of the day.

While Saturday was suggested, I have permission to go on either Saturday or Sunday, if that makes a difference.

I'm in for Saturday. I know where the BLM office is on 50 but every other place mentioned is new to me.

Yep, that is the BLM office, just off Deer Run Road, just before it drops down to cross the Carson River. I'd suggest we try and meet up around 9. If we make the full journey we'll end up in Bodie before heading back north.

Sunrise Pass comes out into Artesia Road that runs into Upper Colony Road that runs into Wellington. In Wellington we would pick up Hoye Canyon Road, which follows the west fork of the Walker River back into Antelope Valley, where it turns into Eastside Lane. Risue Road forks off Eastside Lane back to the east. This would be a chance to run up Eastside into Walker for lunch. Or keep moving and take Risue over the norther should of the Sweetwater Mountains and come out on SR 338, whgich we take south until we hit the east fork of the Walker and turn onto Forest Road 28. Shortly after it crosses the river we'll turn off onto Forest Road 46 which takes us into Masonic, an old mining camp. and then out the old stage road from Masonic to Bodie. There are many variations to this route. Its a bit of a long day, maybe pushing 250 miles, 80 of which would be the run back home on 395, but if there is enough daylight and desire, on the way back can take Bircham Flat Road from Sonora Junction to Walker, pick up a local utility road from Holbrook Junction to the top of Monitor and then Leviathan Mine Road back down to 395.

Drats! I would love to go, but saturday is my 1st day off... which means that I work till 0300 that morning 250 miles on 2 hours of sleep doesn't appeal to me right now...
Maybe next time.

I can go Sat but not Sunday (prior plans with the GF). Let me know what you all decide. I have another route I can ride this satruday which is A-OK.

Next weekend I am headed to Panguitch UT for dualsport fun with a group from F650.com - It is an annual ride a few of us former F650 owners still do. Altitude Sickness 3.0 (3rd annual)

http://www.f650.com/phpbb3/viewtopic...71081649069c55

After that I'd be able to get in another weekend ride or two before the season goes snowing on us.

If 211jophn can make it looks like there are three of us. I can be at the BLM office by 8:30 ... I'm usually up before the sun.
