Smithee, I like the V alot. Did 4000 miles on it traveling this summer. Better tires would help in gravel and dirt. I made it out to Toroweep Overlook at the Grand Canyon which took 61 miles of gravel and dirt roads no problem. Some people are mounting more knobbier tires on but thats not the type of riding i bought this bike for. Have the XT250 if I want to get dirty.

I would highly recommend going to Hell's Canyon if you can. I've always had a great time. LadyBug really puts her soul into it and does a great job. I think I will be in Hawaii with my son at that time so may not make it.

I would like to go to your wifes memorial Smithee even though I didn't know her if it's OK with family? rj

I would be honored if you came to the memorial. Going to be a lot of motorcycle peeps there. She loved riding and some of our best friends have been the bikers. Even though you did not meet her, you will get a good idea of who she was by coming.

Any and all here are welcome to come to the memorial service. We will be doing a reception at the church afterward.

RJ - how you liking the Versys? How do you think it would perform with some tires more suited to gravel - say Michelin Anakee's (80/20)?

Ladybug - you doing the Enterprise Camp Out this year? Hopefully I can make it this year. Forget what I was doing in 2011, but I was otherwise committed.
Hi Smithee,

Yes, the Enterprise campout is happening again: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=734889 I hope you can make it.

Fluff (RJ), we'll miss you if you aren't able to be there but I'll leave you on the fence just in case.

Hey Strangers

Hey everyone. I've been gone for a while and decided to get caught back up on everything going on.

Smithee - I am sorry to hear about your wife. Suzie said she was fighting cancer. If you need anything, please get a hold of me.

No ride report or pictures but I did take my new 2012 KTM 300 XC-W up the south fork last Saturday. I made it to Burnt Cabin bridge before turning around. I figured since it was supposely a break in ride I shouldn't work it too hard in the snow. After completing the ride twice I took it home and spent the rest of the day cleaning it.

Hey Keith, good to see you back here and hear that you are out on two wheels!
Now that you are "seasoned" in the art of cleaning up after a ride you can come over and get mine all spiffy since I didn't clean it up before I put it away for the winter!

Ihear ya. I put the VStrom away thinking I was going to take it out one last time before winter and never did. It got ridden on Sunday and a bath before putting away. Sunday was too nice to miss a Jan ride.

Memorial Service

Lynne's memorial service will be this Sunday, Feb. 4, at 1:00 pm at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 323 Catherine St. Walla Walla. Reception at the Church's Campbell Hall to follow.

All are welcome. If the weather is good, come on a bike. Don't worry about dressing up. Motorcycle clothes are fine.
