Vstrom Riders and Where They Like Their Bags

Took my strom on a 340 mile trip yesterday with my top bag on. I don't like riding with the side bags on because I can feel how they negativly affect the feel of the bike.

Today I saw a rider with just side bags and no top bag. This got me wondering, what bags do you ride with?

1) Top

2) Side

3) All Three

4) None

Also four. Joe Rocket Manta XL tank bag, Pelican 1500 sides, and a 1400 as my top box. I dont notice any effect the sides have. I guess it matters what side cases you have. how wide are they?

I like my bag in my wife's mouth.

I ride with a tank bag full time, a soft top case 99.9% of the time, and panniers when traveling or shopping. I'm looking to get a Coocase V48 and some E21s to replace my nice but not lockable or sexy Nelson Rigg luggage.

I ride with a pair of pelican 1550's most of the time. I use the bike(s) as my primary mode of transportation as long as the roads are clear and hate not being able to stop for groceries etc. on a whim. The 1550's are big enough to hold my jacket if I don't want to bring it with me.
With careful (total accident) built my bags mounts to be reversible. If I have an empty pillion I can swap the bags side to side which moves them about 5" forward to hopefully make the bike handle better when loaded.
I tried a top bag and really didn't like it. I have a rack on the back that I can tie most of my campgear to so it doesn't go on trips with me.

Tank bag and side cases pretty much all of the time, top case only if I think I need the extra space. I will generally take off the side cases if I am going off road locally just in case the bike wants to take a nap....

Ive just gotten so used to riding with all three Pelican 1550's that I only take them off to work on the bike.

Top case almost every day when I commute or day trips and even overnighters. I only remove the top case if I'm feeling sporty.

This was for a two-day trip to Missouri.

Side cases if I'm grocery shopping or going someplace for several days.

And a longer trip through Louisiana.

loaded, i do sidebags first. I think they are ride-enhancing lowering the COG.
but for convenience nothing beats my lightweight ATV 'trunk' on the tail rack.
