Keep an eye out for me when you are around midland. PM me if you are looking to add another bike to your day tripping. I run long hauls regularly.

I was just up there during the week of the 4th of July. That Scenic Byway is AWSOME! Nothing but long sweepers with little to no traffic.

Eek

DAY 2

Are morning starts out just like it ended only no beer and Jack Hometown Punch. Hot dogs on the pit and water .

Packing the bikes with excitement because the tunnel of trees AKA 119 is maybe 1/2 hour away these two from main show up. Holy crap 400 miles in a week on that bike.

Cant tell you there names but they spend a week here riding.

WOW

But how cool is that doing something like this with your bride. I can only hope some day Annie comes around.

Now i have to let you in on the video in smugmug.
first row bottom left.

This little road starts out slow. But gets real good fast.

Remember the rain the day before, well the sand piles on the road like a sand bar and well the video will speak for its self.

Lets just say this, i am getting better in the turns but the bikes are packed
down and felt like i was riding a fat sow.

bad picture but hills

hills

bike is hard to hold up

Out side of the tunnel of trees we come up to legs

notice all the cars

legs is one of the land marks that we had on the list.

we were a little early. no one on 119 and legs is closed for 1 1/2. No time to wait. So i change in front of the sign and Steve looks to get a picture, but i am to fast for him. Now when i say there was no one around i mean there was not a damn sole around.

On are way and i SE a horse, Hmmmm now wtf is a damn horse doing.

Then lots of people

A 30 ft cross

more people all in a group and yes they have horses

not sure if i should speed out of town now or pay are re specks.

we raced out of town.

Now coming out of 119 you can turn left or right.

Go left, I think this lake shore something and it is nice.

from there up to wilderness state park and we do that twice and stop to talk about were to next.

This is were i was sure the pig was going down.

the road drops off a bit and the wind was not on are side

and some white caps on the water.

With no real plan and 2 hours from Tahquamenon Falls its set, cross the bridge in high winds and go to the falls

Not a good picture at all but notice Steve, taking pictures with his Iphone him, me and the water.

sorry but this is the last picture of the bridge from me i had my hands full.

4.99 miles
or
26,372 ft

and 200 ft to the water later.

we are in DA-UP

pick up one, its free

123 north for a hour

and the view looks something like this

Trout lake is a little town on the way, sharp right after the tracks

Before you get to the tracks look to right at the party store or what ever you may call them.

there is a big bear maybe two, and i see flash, flash.
someone taking picture of the bear, but what the hell is that guy doing behind the bear

OK that was strange

If you have not been

you should stop buy

My words will not describe what you can see, smell and hear.

We then road down to the lower falls, but the long line told us to stay away.

Thats OK because we then left the falls and found Curley Lewis

White fish, Curley Lewis whatever it is.

find it

ride it

We had the privilege of a local pull in front of us a mile or so in.

With the bikes heavy with gear we did not push it to hard. That is until the truck that pulled in front of us.

That got in are way

Got small real fast.

Well Steve did not put up with this, he claims he did not speed up.

But i could hear the note of that Harley change with every corner.

The thing is the truck new the turns we did not,

The truck never hit the brakes.

and when Steve caught the truck we never hit the brakes.
man that was fun, fast but fun.

riding out of the Curley we find this

In the time it takes me to snap the foto, the bikes are going down.

Steve said something and i just said what ever, he gives me a look

What the hell are you talking about man.

Look at you kick stand, ooppss

ok i got it, center stand it is.

thats all the sites we found on this day are ride back was not much fun because of the wind.

Set up camp and crack a bear open and call it a night.

When I was on the Curley Lewis I had no traffic and I went thru it at faster than posted speeds... It was great! I went from Brimley to 123 so I went the opposite direction as you. At the speed I was going, it was tough to stop at the roadside parks. I did stop at Iroquois Point though. I like lighthouses so I had to stop. I also went to Whitefish Point Lighthouse as well. The UP is a great place to go exploring. If I had been a little braver, I would have gone down some of the fire roads on the FZ. You can see my pics in my blog linked in my signature. I cheated though and brought my bike(s) up on a trailer and rode from my base camp near the Soo.

Day 3

Day 3 starts out with the rats all over your crap.

The sound of the birds were all over the park of St Ignace State Park

Short walk to the water to find the sun some where over Mackinac Island

This camera is not the best, and all the Black & Whites are done with a 2 year old Sony.

The pentax W90

good for 20 ft in water

stitch 3 shot into one

And video

To have the sony on the bike in the rain would be nice but just would not hold up

3rd choice would be the canon T1i

Wifes camera and she said no.

So walking back to the tent I can hear a Harley.

fills the air like the rats.

OK sounds better than the rats

This day that is about to Begin will bring me a little surprise.

I'll let you be the judge.

see my glasses hanging in the center of the tent?

I get a lot of this, with this camera.

Brett finds us in the park. Brett and 5 other guys ride late last night think they got in a 2am.
What was 2 is now 8

remember the glasses?

Little did i know I would be the entertainment

brett is the only one i know, just met him this summer.
brett and steve go back some.

So i am the new guy.

New to riding, new to the long rides, the hole bit

After getting a cup of coffee and some eggs, we all meet and fuel up

And i do this

Words will not describe

all ways in search of 93 octane i grab WHAT I THINK IS 93

a splash go's in the tank i stop look at the pump.

yup .14gal and i am holding a green handle.

WTF

holy S--t

It all came out.

I wish i had a picture but i was a little busy

first impressions can be a Bitch

Steve rides to the the hardware store to grab a small hose. That is what i said grab a small hose please.

Come comes back in record time with a big and a big clear hose (tube), like 1-1/4. Lets just say someone is having fun with this.

So I suck on some fuel and its all over my face, arms shirt, this crap is all over ever thing. I feel better now that the diesel is for the most part out of the tank.

Lots of

a little of this from me

Get some gum out of my tank bag and we are off.

I find my place back here

This will be my spot for about 200 miles

Whatever
