Zumo 450 and Mac ...lost! The Irony...

Yeah ...I can load in a destination and ride there, following my GPS. After that , I'm lost. Mapsource for Mac? Interfacing with Google earth/ maps - how? Even the most basic... someone emails me a gpx file of a great off road route. I download it on my Mac desktop, drag and copy it onto an SD card, insert in my Zumo 450 >>> is there a prompt recognizing the card/ gpx file?
I go to Routes in the menu to see if I can somehow find and access the gpx file, and nothing is indicated.
So, how do I get my zumo to recognize the sd card (gpx file) and start riding the route???

Feel like a loser among all the geeks

AFAIK you can't simply copy a GPX file to an SD card and have the Zumo recognize it.

Here's how I do it:
* Download a copy of Garmin's RoadTrip. It's their Mac-ish version of Mapsource.
* Connect your Zumo to the Mac
* Open the GPX route using RoadTrip
* Click on the "Send To" icon in the toolbar and follow the instructions
* Disconnect the Zumo and power it up
* You should get a message something like "New data found, do you want to import?". Select "Yes"
* Once the route is imported it should be available under the "Routes" option.

Now, having said all that my Zumo 450 died on a recent trip and I can't walk thru the process to verify this.
BTW, you might be able to find additioanl help over at zumoforums.com

As far as I know, Roadtrip's no more. Basecamp is where it's at with Garmin now.

Just checked Garmin's site and you can still get Roadtrip but it's from 2009.

Better to go for Basecamp: http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/us/onthetrail/basecamp

Ahhhh, I didn't realize that. I saw both RoadTrip and BaseCamp listed, and just *assumed* Basecamp was for other uses. I've now downloaded Basecamp and will begin using that.

To the OP: Do what Emmbeedee says and try my suggestions using that software.
