Thanks to all for the kind words! I tentatively plan to take a couple of weeks in the spring to go across country, at least as far as Nashville... have family in Houston, Greenville MS, and near Nashville and Jackson, TN. The Natchez Trace Parkway in particular is calling me.

So that's likely to be my next multi-day RR. Might have to go outside of Day Trippin' for that one.

Beautiful pictures of a beautiful run. Been '04 since I've been in that area , Cascades Park North Washington to Central California , and need to get there again. Thanks for sharing.

Indeed! As for next year's trip, I do seem to have a client in Nashville.

We took the East side of it as far as Wildwood Road. I think the big deal is for those that ride a spirited pace; I'm not so fast though I did scrape pegs a couple of times, mainly I think because many of the curves are not banked much if at all. It was fun for me.

You can see the Pashnit view of it here.

Hmm. I rode from Fortuna to Red Bluff, and (although I was hungover ) I wasn't really impressed. Maybe I was just jaded; coming from the midwest and riding around California all summer.

Rodr, nice pics. Your story is similar to mine. I also just turned 60 (in March of this year). In 2006 I bought a Wee Strom after 30 years without a bike. More recently I bought an R1200GS and have now traveled across the country a couple of times, but haven't really had a chance to travel by bike in the areas you showed in your trip report. I have been through that area by car but wished I was on my bike.

I've been thinking about where to take my bike next spring, and your report has inspired me to head to that area. My brother lives in Novato and my sister lives in Eugene, so a loop similar to your route should give me a chance to visit both of them. Thanks for posting.

I missed that highway due to getting to the coast on 299 last trip to the North California Coast. But, now when I do get a chance to get California way, I use Pasnit to see what roads I might want to dance on. ;-)
Thanks for the great report and pictures.
