Horses for courses, as they say.

Ah, yes. Assumptions. They'll get you every time.

Horses for courses, indeed.

Thanks for the pic Loaded. I have never looked at an SP close up and I had assumed that the fairing was frame mounted. I was trying to figure out if the bracket would be helpful in installing a vintage 1/2 fairing but it's clearly not. For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure that I would take that fairing off too but I hope that doesn't get me lumped in with you as a curb-posing hipster. You are going to put a chrome skull with light up eyes on the suicide shifter aren't you?

I'm still eager to see where you're going with this.

Count me among those who are shuddering at the tearing off of one of motorcycling's best fairings.

Me, I'm a naked bike guy myself but to describe THAT fairing, or the one on the R100RS, as "ghastly"?

Perspective boys, perspective.

As in, get some. And put a few miles on - in a day. Then do it again, the next day.

Sell ya yer ghastly fairing back then.

Wouldn't it just be awesome if everyone had the exact same taste and liked their bikes in exactly the same way.

One more round of whinging from these girls and I am going to paint my V7 Sport back to metalflake purple on general fucking principles

see my edit, you damned fool

some time in the future, further than I wish to admit, my wife will learn to hate you. Blinded by the current guzzi atrocities, designed by the same people that brought you the not better shinier hot tub, and their less recent feeble fumblings into cruiserdom, I'd chosen to forget. These old things have brought a little tickle to the loins.

p.s. the head and the tail make and break these things. A little hint of age appropriate flair on both ends goes a long way, IMHO.

The Black one's are faster

Hey...where are the lower frame tubes?

Gone, that's where. This has proved a very popular mod in Europe, I believe pioneered by the Spanish Vintage Guzzi Racers (who are fanatics ) Late model alternator cover, a bit of frame welding, and voila.. cornering clearance and room to tuck the pipes in

¡Viva España!

PS - Depending on how serious you get about this, I may have a Genuine Dr John hand-made windage tray for a 78mm crank buried someplace (the 70mm Dr John version is in Barney). Might even have some 144mm Carillos I got from the good Dr around someplace as well.

Of course, none of those parts are "stock"...so think carefully about ruining your museum piece with them

We can chat about all that later. You have much work to do...and damnit, so do I
