After a good nights rest, I packed up and left Rawlins headed NW on 287. I didn't make it to far when my first bit of trouble occurred.

About 20 miles out of town, coming down a slight grade my bike lost power.
It felt as if I was out of gas. The ever faithful KLR sputtered to a halt!

Gas tank was full and no amount of choke would restart the bike.
Only one thing left to do--------- surgery!!

I stripped the bike down to remove the seat and tank to get to the carb.
Pull the fuel line and float bowl to find a piece of crap stuck in the fuel inlet above the float needle. No wonder it would not run!

A really nice guy stopped to offer assistance and waited until I got her restarted before leaving. Turns out he was a rider to.

I do not remember his name but I am greatfull for his assistance!
I still can not understand how the dirt got past my inline fuel filter

Before this gentleman stopped, I was passed by at least 15 motorcycles who didn't even bother to wave, let alone stop.

About one hour in repairs and I was back on the road!

The cross winds on 287 from Rawlins up to Lander were brutal!
Probably 40 to 45 mph gusts. At one rest stop a talked to some other riders and all were in agreement the sooner we get through this the better.

Once into Lander Wy, I started looking for a place to buy some oil as I was due for a change. I normally run Mobil 1 synthetic car oil, but I passed a Kawasaki dealer and thought I would stop in.

Turns out that the folks who own and run this dealership are real gems
I purchased a spare fuel filter and some oil then they insisted I bring my bike into there shop to change the oil.
They supplied me with a pan and rags and said " have at it "
It was around 95 deg outside and the shade was welcome.

The two gentleman on the sides are brothers who own the dealership. They stated it was the oldest Kawasaki dealership in the U.S. Started the franchise in 1963 I believe.
The man in the middle is one of their customers who is a retired cop from California. He is a avid rider and the three of the go exploring the scenic gravel and dirt roads around Wyoming.

They gave me some great advise as to where to ride.
Many thanks to guys for your kindness
If you are in Lander and need something for your bike, stop in and give them your buisness!

On to Dubois ( thats doo-boyz)

You were missed my friend
Fortunately we are young enough to still have plenty more adventures ahead of us!
