Okay, isaac004, You took us on your trip with you and your Father, you have relocated to Los Angeles, are you just going to check out on us there?

How is the new job going, what is your Dad doing, where are you riding, and what are your plans for the coming year?

You have taken us into your circle, you can't just drop out.

I can't drop out? Want to bet?

I actually haven't gone on any moto rides since moving here, aside from commuting duty (I-10 between LA and Santa Monica is a freaking parking lot). But I have been getting them back into shape for some winter desert riding! Need to make it out with the Joel/h8chains rides. Since moving here in July I've been out rock climbing almost every weekend...SoCal is VERY good for lots of easily accessible outdoor climbing.

Not SoCal, but Yosemite...

Joshua Tree, tons of climbing here.

Lots of good climbing and bouldering in Red Rocks, close by in Vegas.

The new position has been keeping me busy with learning about big electric motors (4000+ volts) and severe service ASME vessels and piping. Lots of good experience. My Dad has been back to his normal life of riding and working on motorcycle projects....the easy life of retirement.

Isaac,

Thanks for taking us along on a great trip. I hope that I can do it next year.

air filter maintenance

I read a lot about chain maintenance, What did you use for the air filter?

Great report.

I just used a Twin Air filter with Rock Oil Swaff. The stuff is amazing, you can wash your filters out in your sink with hot tap water and it is safe to go down the drain. I only used one filter the entire trip. Bad? Maybe. But this was a trip where I was not often riding in dust clouds of others, so I really was not too worried about loading up the filter quickly.

Amazing ride report with spectacular photography...very nicely done! Your ride followed many of the same trails we covered on our Forever West trip. Looks like the DR650s held up nicely too. Thanks for sharing.

Isaac, I'm glad that we got to ride together in DV this year. I was stoked to hear about your CDT adventure. I finally got a chance to read through all of your report. It must have been really special to do the journey with your Dad. What great memories!

Great job. This is an awesome, well documented step-by-step RR. It really makes me want to do the CDT even more than before.

Thanks for taking us all along on the ride.

Thanks Randy, it was great riding with you out in DV as well. It was quite the trip, and while my Dad and I are already planning on doing Alaska to Prudhoe Bay next year, I still don't think it will one up the CDT ride.

Thanks everyone as well for the comments, glad everyone enjoyed reading the RR.

Great report! I wish my dad was still alive to do a ride like that with me. Enjoy him while you can. Hope to do the ride with some friends next September.
