Athens Corinth Old national road Part II
Part I
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=603784 ![]() Following my friend Astrahan's advice, I returned toward Corinth to see the Skironio Museum. ![]() Essentially it used to be late sculptor Kostas Polychronopoulos' home, designed and built by the man himself to function as not only his house but also his workshop. A house like that is a life's dream for me, but chances are I'll never get one. ![]() (this is not a simple boat; it's a mermaid-finder, complete with ziplock bags hanging below in which chocolate croissants are placed) But the view... it's the real thing. ![]() ![]() ![]() Now I am not an expert in modern art, so I will limit myself to just sharing some pictures. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() However, if you do happen to visit the Skironio Museum some day, remember... Don't touch ANYTHING you might come across! It's almost certain that it wasn't left there by the workers. And especially refrain from kicking it out of the way or down the cliff.... ![]() Oh, and keep quiet.... The people of the art world live dematerialized, in a parallel reality to ours. You are just ... lowly beings! GreeKKTiNoS screwed with this post 08-03-2010 at 07:57 AM |

All these wonders were taking place while the Greek truck drivers were ready for battle, prepared not only to close off the regular national highway, but the old one as well.

Then I popped over to the Vouliagmeni Lagoon, 16 km from Loutraki for a swim.

The scenery is a familiar one but a breathtaking one nevertheless.
![]() ![]() A stop at the Corinth Canal. ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us The Hungarians, as it turns out, are masters of bridge-making! ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us Once upon a time all cars driving through would make a stop here, for a souvlaki and a picture. When I was a kid, I remember they'd buy me Astakos brand bonbons! Today the buildings (restaurants, souvenir shops) are a mere shadow of themselves. I can't help comparing the situation with what's going on in Greece today. I am overcome by melancholy, and it seems uncertainty is the only sure thing.... That's all folks.... Oh and the pocket-sized camera proved unworthy. |
