Yea what he said. Going out at the end of June (Brecktreck) - those pix make me wish is was next week .

Thinking about mounting up a MT16 for the trip? I have a few more rides left on my MX 51 (non DOT) before it's done. Great sand tire for FL but not so sure about roots, rocks, hard pack.

Any suggestions on a rear for CO trails? Going on a exc 500.

And thanks for the teaser pix.

^^^ Note that when Hayduke rides on ST it causes the skies to open and it RAINS. Good for the forests and bad for Hayduke.

Rain at altitude will drop the ambient temperature quickly into the 40's (occasionally, the 30's) and windchill can be significant. Hail is a serious possibility.

I've had snow every month of the year around here, too. Including down in the valley on the river. You just never know. Hail is the worst.

I think it depends on your riding style. Lot's of folks use a trials rear (MT43) for trails around here, but I destroy them pretty quickly- I'm often riding fast rocky two track, and I like to turn with the rear wheel. I think a trials tire would be great if I were spending most of my time on single track where I'm very careful not to spin up the rear tire.

I'm a huge fan of the Bridgestone 403/404 combo. Wears well, hooks up well in loose rocks and also mud. Not DOT, though. For long wear, DOT, and mainly Forest roads and jeep trails, I like the Dunlop 606 front and rear, but those kind of suck when it get's more technical or wet.

Couple new pics from recent rides in the area.

A fire in the area so a little smoky east of town. Summer in Colorado!

Yep. I agree with that... Is it the fires, a wedding, or the "you may not get a tomorrow" you're getting at???
